Exactly. If he is arrested, specifically for fraud, go ahead and assume they have proof he paid Sexton/family and broke NCAA rules. If he is not arrested or is charged with use of public office for private gain, instead of fraud, we likely don't have to worry about NCAA violations.

They knew where the $$ was and went for it. Chuck gave (at least) some to the kid's family. Hopefully this guy kept it in his pocket. Yeah, I know it is wishful thinking, but I can hope . . . and dance . . .

True but proving that Alabama hired him with the specific intent of using his NCAA knowledge to circumvent the rules will be really difficult if trying to show lack of institutional control. This specific case will result in egg all over the NCAA's face if they try to touch Bama on this one. Our defense in the public eye is too easy.

So is this either illegal or against NCAA regulations? With the current information, it's hard to see a major issue, given that the kid had already declared. Sounds more like an in-house issue than a legal one, doesn't it? It's extremely poor ethics and definitely an abuse of his position but can somebody clear up what other implications arise from the situation?
