You know what bro? I hope he improves and has you guys in the hunt. He will be the difference between a good season and a championship season. We have no idea what to expect from our guys. Our defense is so fricking elite that it makes our guys look bad in practice. Good luck to Brandon...

With Fournette and Guice? If they open up, Les should be fricking fired immediately.

How does a QB win the Heisman with only 8 wins?

If he keeps making these kinds of passes he gets my vote.

Harris for Heisman

When that MFer has another 4/15 for 29 yards stat line (with 2 completions going to RBs) like last season this thread will be quickly bumped.

If Miles was to have an offensive revamping like Stoops just did it's possible.. But Miles is too stubborn for all that. Not very likely.
I think a coach like Tom Herman, who personally recruited Harris, would do wonders with him..

They have a senior wr who is the #1 guy who just returned.. They have another highly projected NFL prospect former 5 star and td machine in Dupre.. Backing them up is a five star receiver and number 1 player out of LA in Johnson,. Just brought in a spectacular haul of talented receivers with serious size and range..

Would be sad not to utilize the talents..

Guy I am most excited about is a Drake Davis. He is a potential game breaker.

LSU is coming off what should be a ten win season. McNeese st game was cancelled.

Harris would be a 10 win first year starter..

He's entering his junior season with three years in the system. He should be tremendously improved. The talent is there. You see glimpses of it just like with Mett in his first season starting at LSU.. Harris is on the sand trajectory.. But it's okay people want to trash and laugh at Harris. I expect him to be improved given recent history.

Do you remember the hysterical never-ending hype the tiger faithful inflicted on this board last year after Harris was announced starter over Jennings? "Heisman, gonna run table, best ever, top QB recruit wanted by every school in the conference (BS), unstoppable. blah blah blah ...etc." OMG it was a cluster of juvenile breathless and thoughtless panting.

Well, excuse me if I don't hold my breath this year. Harris did not look particularly good last year even in the LSU wins ... and the late arriving excuse of "being hurt" at Alabama was never mentioned during the season when he and his team were dusted repeatedly by any physical team.

What I'll look for this year are early signs to see if Harris still plays "scared." He looked "little and fragile" on the field, he played small and looked scared to death against Alabama, Arkansas, etc. He did not look commanding and confident a la Watson for Clemson, who was from the same recruiting class.

Of course his OL last year was leaking like a screen door boat ... so maybe that was an issue. The good news is that two of that OL are gone and the rest are the same people who leaked like a screen door boat last year.

But, if if if Harris grows up acts like a QB, AND the OL develops and can stop the incredible roster of pass-rushing DE that play in the SEC this year, AND if play calling/offensive scheme changes to help keep defenses off balance, AND-IF AND-IF AND-if .... We will see... Hummm, lots of "AND-IFs"

Heisman this year? Someone has got to be trolling the LSU fan base. Just decent game managing would be useful.

You realize his targets are limited right?

Here I'll put it in perspective for you..

In comparison..

This is Calvin Ridley

Fwiw Beckam Jr, one of the best receivers in the league.. only had 2 tds in his freshman and sophomore season.. before breaking out with a QB Miles trusted in his junior season.. with 8 TDs and 1000+ yards..

So in only 57 receptions, Dupre has a far superior reception to TD ratio as well as yards per reception..

Same goes for Dural..

Put it this way.. Dupre had nearly 700 yards receiving and 6 TDs on only 43 receptions.. That's an avg of 16+ yards per reception..

Travin Dural is even more impressive

LSU doesn't target out one specific receiver.. but these guys make the most of it.. Especially when it comes to TD per reception with Dupre. He is a jump ball endzone TD machine.

Dupre had 1 reception against Alabama as a true freshman.. want to guess the result?

TD...

No, but do you realize that fans were probably more overjoyed that Jennings was out..

Mettenberger looked bad at times his first season starting and he was a Junior.. but there were some glimpses of talent every now and then.. Harris was a true Sophomore last season.. He actually started out pretty good and even showed some glimpses against Alabama and Florida.. Yeah he made some inaccurate throws versus Bama on the road.. but you could see some of the talent. He was especially good versus a good D in Florida.

It's not out of the norm to expect a guy his 3rd year in the system and a Junior to make a significant leap..

It took Mettenberger a Senior to finally break out.. Harris already has similar stats. He actually had more TDs than Mett's first season starting and 1 less INT.. AND Harris didn't even get the benefit of an extra game versus an inferior team in McNeese St at home.. so he could easily have had better overall numbers.

There was also a point in his freshman year where Harris lead LSU to 6 straight TDs I believe.. before the Auburn start.

It's fine if you want to be skeptical.. that's completely fine..but Harris graded out right behind Watson coming out of H.S. and the talent is absolutely there. It's whether they develop it or put him in the best position to succeed..

It's completely fine to be skeptical. It's just wild that people have the notion it is impossible to expect improvement.

I think some of the "heisman" talk was facetious.. I didn't see that for Harris.. but I've seen it jokingly said about others.. just keep in mind LSU fans had to be delighted that Jennings was finally out at the time.. That played into extra excitement.. given Miles stubborn ways at times..

By the way. Not to make excuses.. but Harris was hurt in the Alabama game and still made that TD pass under pressure. You could see how he was walking around. There were times he should have escaped the pressure, but didn't have the capability to get around the edge rusher. He looked a little slower.. Well.. he was playing with a Sports hernia..

He has gotten that surgery and he has put on some very healthy size in the off-season. Have you seen him recently?

He believes the weight will help him physically. I hope so.
