I've never understood the Verne hate, guy has always been solid, love the emotion and excitement he shows on big plays.

He's never really shown bias. He just calls a game as it is.

I'm gonna miss Verne. He's a great guy and a good announcer. It's definitely time for him to retire, and probably has been for a couple of years, but he gets too much hate.

Not really, I don't believe in the bias shite that people want to put on Gary and Verne when it comes to Bama but verne should have been gone a few years ago. He constantly makes horrible calls during games. I'm not sure how many current announcers would call a catch and run for over 50 yards, an incomplete pass.
I think Gary does a good job though and I'm glad he is staying.

Sorry, but I'm THRILLED he's gone. He simply makes too many mistakes.
Reminding people of their drunk great uncle constantly calling the grandkids by the wrong name at a family gathering is no reason to have him working the premier SEC game every Saturday. His job is to describe the game. If he can't be bothered to do something as simple as get the players names right, then he really isn't needed at all.

because he fricks up more calls than every other commentator alive and dead the last 75 years combined...seriously, he has to be clinically blind to miss so many easy calls/plays.
