The bowl games have quite a few empty seats. Looking more like a spring game on campus.

I blame the "final four" concept as those are the only games that matter. Maybe bowl game participation will revert back to the sixties: fun time reward for players.

I remember Coach Bryant would always say his seniors would decide where to play.

There needs to be 20 bowls max. Maybe even 15

Has it not been that way since national championships started being awarded after the bowls?

It won't as long as the schools keep making huge chunks of change because of the games.

I blame spreading them out for television purposes. Games need to go back to New Years day and eve. Looks like DIII on TV.

Someone is making money or they wouldn't have one. The locals have to support bowl games or the seats will always be empty. If you lived in El Paso would have any interest in going to the Duke/ASU game? They have to rely more on corporate sponsors and TV money than ticket purchases....have to.

Maybe your bowl games or games of stepping stone programs. Ours typically sell out.

If you can keep the bowl within 7-8 hours driving distance then you sell a whole lot more tickets at the participating schools.

Then your blaming the wrong thing.

Reverting back to the 60s and it being a "fun time reward" for the players isn't going to raise the attendance. Going back as far in history as you want to only a couple bowl games a year actually matter.

how would this help bowl attendance. You keep referencing things that do not impact fan attendance.

Also another HUGE thing that affects bowl attendance is expectations of the team before/after the season. OM 2 years ago brought A TON of fans to Bham for the bowl game because we we're excited about it. If we would have landed there this year we wouldn't have nearly the same amount of fans.

That's just how it is.

We took a ton to the first Gator Bowl. Hard 11 hour drive from where I live. Second time against Northwestern; not near as many.

Too many bowls, with too many unappealing matchups. Contrition will start soon enough.
