Bottom line on the NOA

Let's remember where all of this began. In 2013 Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze did something that many sports media mouthpieces thought couldn't be done. The result of that accomplishment was widespread speculation and opinion that Ole Miss was throwing tons of money at recruits. For three years journalist like Clay Travis, Hugh Kellenburger, Ivan Maisel, Pat Forde, Dan Wolken, Cowherd, Robertson etc... Have waited for the NCAA to justify their opinions and yesterday was suppose to be the great day of attribution. That data never materialized.
Yes Ole Miss got caught (well turned themselves in mostly) with stupid crap like $800 from a booster, some hotel stays, and loaner car debacle. But what didn't show up was all that cash and cheating that took place to sign the 2013 recruiting class. Where are all the Pay for Play accusations? Where are all the free cars and houses? Where are all the six figure cash handouts and signing bonuses?
Three and a half years for this. All of the heavy accusations that have been levied simply aren't there. How would any power five program come out after three years of investigation? Any boosters in your program buying people meals? The only reason for the scholarship reduction is the Saunders stuff and Tunsil's mom had a piece of shite boyfriend with his hand out and a couple of stupid boosters loaded him up with about $2000 worth of stuff. Wow what a scandal.
This will help the NCAA save face for the time and money spent. These self imposed penalties are part of the negotiation. They will be accepted. Sorry boys. Flame and down vote away.

You know, if enough Ole Miss posters make this exact same thread 8-9 more times, we might just start agreeing with you.

You do understand that your own university has already fired several coaches and will fire more, docked itself 11 or so scholarships, and volunteered to pay 150k in fines, right?
$800 doesn't get you those types of penalties. I can understand how as a homer you are mad and see this as no big deal. I saw 'Bama's last run in as a ridiculous matter over some pencil top erasers. The NCAA did NOT see things the same way...They do not see Ole Miss' issue as just a minor $800 matter.

Also, I kind it oddly convenient that you left out the ACT fraudulent scores. That alone can earn you a postseason ban.

Again, I'll go back to our penalties.
WE SELF IMPOSED as well. We thought it was part of a "negotiation". I think we offered up like 13 total or something. No post season ban. It'll be tough but we'll get through it we thought.
A few months later I'm talking to a BOT member and he tells me its worse than what the NCAA is making public. There are "things" they havent let the public know. We didnt know them until the COI read the full report at our sentencing.
Bottom line, they HAVE NOT negotiated anything. The NCAA always lets you see how far you will discipline yourself first. Standard operating procedure. means nothing to them though. They will penalize as they see fit. We offered like 13 and ended up with like 21 or 23 schollie reductions and we weren't even cited for Lack of Institutional control. The NCAA even praised us for how we cooperated and made it clear no one at the university could have known this was happening. It made ZERO difference to them.
Second if you think this is just an electric bill and a rental car you are being naive. They had to GET the kids somehow. That's the part they haven't made public along with other times they took care of current players.
I can tell you from experience, this is far from over
but with Tom Yeager and David Swank no longer chairing the committee, you might survive. Those guys got off on blowing up programs.

Ole Miss fans have an interesting definition of melt. Apparently to them it means "Quoting articles on ESPN about the state of the Ole Miss program and the cheating they have admitted to."

Solid and melt are polar opposites - you stupid Mississippi, draped in a Rebel Flag, drunk, skank marrying puke.
