Wow truly a terrible tragedy! Only 34 years old. What could have been? Not a doubt in my mind he would have built LSU into a power. Feel so sorry for his family that they carry that pain around with them everyday since it happened in 1980. You can feel their pain in that special.

I watched it tonight. He was a very charismatic man who would likely have been very successful at LSU. What a shame he never had the chance.

Horrible tragedy. Don't even know how I would get through that if I was his family, or the Athletic department. Unbelievable.

Based on his coaching mentors, the success he had prior to LSU, and his youth and zest for recruiting, there's no telling how successful he could have been.

Haven't seen the documentary yet but I read an article about it the other day and the National Guard pilot that did a fly by of the plane a few times and didn't see anyone in the pilot's seat. That would have to be an eerie feeling to see a plane like that knowing people are dead or passed out inside.

Really sad story. One could make an argument this sent Lsu into the lost woods with coaching until Saban was hired almost 20 years later.

A lot of what ifs. If Rein lives, maybe Saban to LSU never happens. Rein would have been 54 in 2000, when college football began. If Saban doesn't go to LSU, then maybe Saban never reaches his level of success.
