When you look back at the season which is more important? 99% of the time it's being champion, but is this a rare occurrence that beating an all time great tops the tourney winner?

Definitely beating Uconn, playing another game against South Carolina is just a hassle more than anything!

From my standpoint, beating UConn was incredible but to fall one game short would be a disappointment. We would always have the UConn win but not a NC. This might be the best chance we ever have. It's hard for a team (USC) to beat another team 3 times in a row.

It's women's basketball. It's still pretty insignificant.

Winning the title.

But beating UConn so that your chances to win the title increase significantly is a pretty big deal.

That's about as fricktarded a question as I've ever heard. Yeah, beating UConn was huge...but who will have the national championship forever after tonight? That's the goal of this entire process, for God's sake.

It's an interesting question that gets brought up for the Miracle on Ice. Would it have been just as big or memorable if the US didn't go on to win the gold?

I don't know. Still a huge win for MSU though.

If you are a winner, this question makes no sense. Let's say, SC wins the title. Which team would you rather be on, MSU or SC?

Winning a title will always be more important than winning one single game against any team. Should we win tonight, we won't be saying we'd give the title up to have been the one to beat UConn.

The big game is always the most important but the ucon win is more 30-30 material.

On the surface I would say winning the championship, but thinking back to 1980 most people forget that beating the Soviets in hockey was the semifinal game. No one remembers the gold medal game.

The title is all that matters. In 3 years, nobody will remember or care who beat UConn, but they will know who won the title.

I don't know. Would the "Miracle on Ice" have been just as legendary if the US beat the Soviets only to lose to Finland in the Gold Medal round? Most people think beating the Soviets won them the gold

Does it? Can you name the champion over the last 5 years? I can't. I assume mostly UCONN. Did ND ever get one? BU won one, but I don't remember when. A&M got one in '11.

Knocking off UCONN may have a more lasting impression.

Given this particular situation, I'd say it's the other way around. That said, winning the title would still be better.
