Mike Slive was on point with his proposals during SEC Media Days, but this is beyond ridiculous and should never happen.

It's got some valid points. It would possibly cool down the recruiting frenzy some of fans knew they wouldn't see them on the field for a couple of years. Having said that, it's not gonna happen.

It'll never happen, but I wouldn't mind if it did.

If they want it so bad then they should make it a rule in the big ten. We have oversigning rules in the SEC, they need freshman rules in the Northern big 12. If you want them so bad then you first, yank!

I also think it's ridiculous.

If they think it would be better for college football, then they have the power to do that already for their team. It's simple, just redshirt the entire freshman class.

But the idea of making guys like A.J. Green, Julio Jones, etc... sit during their freshman year, leaving them only 2 years to play college football is beyond me.

I don't think, or hope, they'd have any less eligibility, it's just be a redshirt year.

Florida doesn't have their 2006 national title with out freshmen. Some other teams wouldn't have won, either.

Well that gives them two years and they are draft eligible. I don't like it.

Freshman have made some of the biggest impacts on national title contenders the last five years. This is opening up a can of worms, and several law suits if they actually try this. That, and some high schools kids petitioning the rules in order to try for the NFL at 18.

We might have lost to Alabama without Chad jones. We wouldn't have Landry for 03. Vincent was a greyshirt so we would still have him

Tennessee would not have had a OL or a QB last year. Or a kicker.

One of my favorite things about college football is getting a look at these freshmen in live action on Saturday's! Ur favorite team signs a 5 star the fan inside u wants 2 see him play. Who wants to wait a to see the Tim Tebows & Julio Jones play?? I wanted P.Peterson 2 play from the first defensive snap! Lol

Its just a P.R. move. They would never do that. Just because you make freshman ineligible doesnt mean that would stop the recruiting frenzy. It's a meet market regardless if you make a 1 year rule.

If I were the UFL I would allow high school graduates to play right out of H.S. I would pay them for their play. This would force both the NCAA & the NFL to make policy changes to help keep these kids in college.

Apples and oranges maybe....but Pistol Pete had to play JV his freshman year. Think of the record books if he had another year. Not to mention LSU's varsity team might have been respectable that year.

It would be a disater to not let freshman play football

i think it's a good idea FOR THE STUDENT ATHLETE. of course, there aren't many on the side of the student athlete these days. they could use a year to mature; huge jump from hi school to college for anyone much less someone having to dedicate 30-40 hrs/wk to a sport. let them get used to college life for a year. it will, however, never happen (again; it used to be that way).
