That had a lot of success before that, as long as you completely ignore the 80's and 90's.
In the 80s, LSU won two conference titles. In the 90s, they weren't so good, but did have a top 10 finish at least.

What's really funny is LSU fans telling others that they are historically significant
We don't have to tell anyone anything. LSU's tradition speaks for itself. If you can't see that, well then that's your deficiency, not LSU's.

LOL... The entire point of the "Big 6" is that they're the only teams to win the SEC since Kentucky in '76.
You don't get to change the rules.

I remember when Tulane and Georgia Tech were still in the SEC and they still talked about "The Six" and heard it want all the way back to the early days of the SEC.

Can a team be dropped from the Big 6? Hypothetically, if a team went for 15 years being shite-awful and hadn't beat their rivals in over a decade would they be kicked out?

I think the consensus is that, with expansion, there is "room" for 1 more member, but that doesn't mean we "have" to fill that spot. You're going to have to make it impossible for anyone to reasonably deny you a place at the table for it to happen.
If the current Big 6 doesn't wish to expand to a Big 7, I'd like to make a motion that we swap out Tennessee for another worthy candidate if the Vol ranters misbehave in the summer of 2016 like they did this summer. And the vote doesn't have to be unanimous, either.

Meh. They're grandfathered in.

Seems this happened to both Tulane and Georgia Tech
Tulane was a power early on, as was Vanderbilt. Seems Georgia Tech was hottest in the 1930's but they were solid over several decades. Would have to go back and look to verify tho.

I remember when Tennessee won it all in '98, making them the 3rd SEC to win the conference since expansion. This started the "Big 3" and then Auburn, LSU and Georgia all won it from 2001-2004.
When Georgia Tech left, they had won several SEC titles, along with Ole Miss, so the "Big 6" must have been different back then. In fact, Florida had yet to win a SEC title, so I'm sure it was.

Exactly, Florida was no football powerhouse during my youth. They really came on in the 80's and 90's.

Gumps. I guess the bubbas should have been tossed from the Big 6 during their last 10 year foray into the wilderness. Piss on bama.
As for mizzoo , just accept the fact your neat little run is over.

Tulane (1934, '39)
LSU (1935, '36)
Tennessee (1938, '39, '40)
Georgia Tech (1939)

2. Even multiple SEC championships wouldn't automatically get you in. There is so substitute for consistency, being up and down year after year and sprinkling a few titles here and there isn't good enough, and neither would be a 2-3 year run that was followed by a return to mediocrity.

We're a charter member, Sidewalker, so suck a bag of dicks.
