Florida State close in basketball with a runner-up finish in basketball, and 3 CWS runner-up finishes.

Oklahoma close with 2 basketball runner-up finishes.

No specific reason for posting this. Just something to talk about.

Guess you have to have LSU has gotten close too. May not be a legit title, but LSU claims one in basketball. Plus the Final Fours.

There's a big banner for it in the PMAC.

like I said-we don't advertise it much. I don't think one banner means much. also nice subtle, hyperbolic touch with "big" to describe the banner.

You should say big two because baseball isn't even close to the other two. I don't care if Alabama was good or not...I'd still have the same opinion.

It's the biggest banner in there, bigger than all the Final Four ones.

They don't have a legitimate football title

It's funny, even in the SEC only 4 or 5 schools make a profit in baseball yet it always gets lumped in with CFB and CBB.

Exactly, it's like they somehow use their success to bolster the other two. I don't get it...

Lsu has won a basketball title before the ncaa tourney. We don't claim it necessarily or boast about it.

And? The NCAA just list schools that claim themselves a championship in whatever year in the era before actual championship games

Alabama was the AP champ in 1964. The AP is considered the most legitimate source of a championship in that era. Most self respecting schools only claim AP championships. If Auburn wanted to be like Arkansas and submit claims to the NCAA for any year some poll voted us champions we could get our names on that list at least 4 more times.

Alabama lost its bowl game; Arkansas went undefeated. If the 1964 system had remained in effect, Arkansas would have been awarded the AP natty in 1965. Either way you look at it, you have to give the Hogs at least one.
