I don't mind TCU all that much. I respect coach Patterson. Plus they don't whine, cover up criminal behavior, or threaten litigation nearly as much as Baylor does. I'm glad they got in to the Big 12. Art Briles is just insufferable. And Ken Starr is terrible. Its just more difficult to like Baylor.
But neither school has a great record against A&M, historically speaking...

So, based on the logic of the OP, teams ranked in the top 5 can only be good if they win their opening game of a season by 60 points?
Are you new to football? Slow, sluggish, and the like are common week one occurrences. They are expected.

Outside of Ohio state and Michigan state they are dead. Penn State has not beaten anyone noteworthy.

Read somewhere earlier that Baylor is 2-23 against Texas ATM the last 25 meetings? Incredibly bad.
Baylor is to A&M as Mississippi State is to LSU.

Baylor and TCU both have good O, but both look very suspect on D. I just don't see how either of them goes without a loss this year.
Oh wait, there really aren't any other good teams except MAYBE OU this year.

well, to be fair, they TRIED to schedule Moo State, but the Bullies declined. They were too busy still picking the splinters out of their arse...
I'm not talking about them scheduling an FCS team. My bad, I needed to clarify. Jumping on the hype train is nonsense at this point.
If LSU goes out and beats McNeese St 70-0 with Harris throwing for 300 yards 5 TDs rushing for another 50 and a TD, Fournette and Guice combining for 300 yards and 4 TDs, LSU getting 3 ints and 6 sacks, and LSU holding McNST to under 100 yards of total offense, would you say we are winning the conference?
G Tech is playing @ Clemson, @ Notre Dame and following that ND game up with playing @ Duke, who they lost to by 6 last year. They have to play FSU and UGA, and they have to play a Virginia Tech team that they beat by 3 in game four last year. Virginia Tech had at the very least (can't remember exactly) 14 first year starters coming into last year. They also only outlasted North Carolina by 5 last year.
I think some guys are getting ahead of themselves.

So if alabama wins by 7 and auburn wins by 3 the ENTIRE sec is overrated?

It is entirely too late in the day for logic, sir.

All I'm saying, is that everybody said they were dead then Michigan St wins another big bowl game and Ohio State starts spanking just about everybody, and wins the national championship. The conference is not dead if your top two teams are winning the big games in the post season.
Michigan will be tough in year 3, Franklin is building Penn State into something big too. That division is going to get real tough in a couple of years.
But really, my post was about not jumping to conclusions on the first game of the year. It's silly.
