MSU or SCAR
Will the success of last year and Dak's return bring more talent to starvkville and keep dan competing in the west or was last year a perfect storm for the bullies. The west is a meat grinder and honestly 4-7 in the west could be anyone
SCAR doesn't have a proven QB right now to my knowledge (could be wrong) and while the east has been down the past two years SCAR hasn't been able to take advantage of it. You still have spurrier but he is getting old (i watched him in an interview during bowl season say twice yall were going to the wrong bowl game). it's possible the game is slipping from him, but he's still the 2-3 best coach in the SEC until proven otherwise.
i think SCAR has the opportunity to be more consistent solely because of the west and how much Dak means to his team. State will take a step back after he leaves. but with TN trending up and Jim briging new life to florida i could see south carolina taking a few 7-5 seasons in the next couple years as well. what says you?

Difficult to predict with probable coaching turnover at USCe and a decent possiblity of turnover at MSU.
I think USCe is in a better long-term position.

MSU. USC is on their way down after Spurrier retires.

SCAR after HBC retires and Mullen takes that reigns leading us to a #1 ranking.

I vote SCAR if only because they are in the weaker division and the state of a program is a relative thing. Arkansas was the worst program in the SEC West last season and they probably could have won the PAC 12. Its all relative.
With that said if you asked who I expected to have a better team in 5 years I say MSU. They have a stable coaching situation and even if Dan leaves he leaves behind a good foundation for the next guy. Meanwhile USC got shown this offseason that after Spurrier is gone they are facing the abyss.

Both will average 8 or 9 wins over the next 5 years.

That would be impressive honestly.....

Prepare to be impressed then. Both programs are in a position to be good, but not great.

Within 5 years MSU will win an SEC West title.

How do you figure? Honest question. Spurrier hired a new DC and revamped the defense. Recruiting stalled out a bit down the stretch, but that was *because* of Spurrier, not despite his best efforts.
I'm not trying to argue that USC is going to be in tip-top shape when Spurrier retires, but I just don't see how this offseason is indicative of life after Steve.
As to the question at hand, impossible to answer. USC has more advantages in terms of recruiting base, but Miss State has the advantage in coaching stability. USC has the facilities, but MSU had the success last year. USC has shown itself capable of competing against all foes in the East, but so has MSU. I think both will be good, but not great. Pretty even comparison in programs at the moment.
