Neither is unstoppable and both are easily stopped the same way.

Chip relies too much on inside runs and short passes. His offense has 4 run plays. That's it. When they have numbers in the box, they have better athletes, and a QB that can run to help those numbers in the box, this works. Urban Meyer also subscribes to this philosophy. It's been successful at a lot of places. At a place like Oregon, when competing against the Pac 12 North, and their passing offense can get teams out of their comfort zone, it's not bad. Against teams that don't need numbers to stop Chip's run... It really falters. I remember when people were clamouring for Mariota for Heisman his freshman year as opposed to Manziel, and Mariota had single digit passes for more than 15 yards(before the catch) like 10 games through the season, and most of those happened OOC. Those Oregon offenses were great, and they stressed nickel and dime DBs and linebackers in the passing or running game, but they were really incomplete.

Baylor, however, puts so much pressure on the DBs, it's a different animal completely. They send so many guys deep from all over the field, even slot receivers lined up outside of the opposite hash, they make the safeties pure pass protection guys the whole game. In almost every other offense, most routes for your inside guys, even ones that fake deep... curl and dig. They run routes back to the ball. It's better positioning, and basic football. Baylor doesn't really do that. I mean they do, but they want the post over the curl and the dig. They'll run a bang 8 for a slot guy lined up as far as an X or a Z would be in an NFL offense, and it'll keep the safety completely out of the rest of the play. And a linebacker never makes them look off of it. The downside to these kinds of plays is that they need exceptional pass protection to let these longer routes develop, in order to stress the safeties, but they really get away with it more often than not. This is the difference.

The Chip offense passes the ball to get the run numbers they want and they run the ball to get the pass numbers they want. Art passes and runs the ball in order to pass the ball deep.

good analysis, from a very simplistic viewpoint, i think briles has had a lot more talent at his disposal than kelly(with the exception of mariota) and thats why i would slightly lean chip.

If you compare recruiting classes that isn't anywhere close to the truth, however.

I don't follow recruiting very much, but i know oregon classes always grade in the 15-20 range, so I'm pretty surprised to hear that baylor does worse than that. Baylor has had one of the best offensive lines and skill position talent the last few years, while oregon is always undersized on both lines, and besides DAT their skill players have been meh. Oregon has been better defensively than baylor so maybe thats the difference.
