In 12 games
1797 yds
295 carries
6.09 yds/ru

Not record breaking

Honestly does the rushing title really even mean anything in hindsight if you didnt have the most yards?

He had just as much 200 yard games as LF and most of his best games came against SEC competition that counts for something. Its gonna be hard for any RB to have the type of year Derrick Henry had.

Lenny racked up his 200 yarders against teams like Syracuse. Henry did it against LSU and the like. Truth.

There is a lot of self sucking Gump action in this thread. Henry was good, but I don't think he was great. Just my opinion on him though. Great to me, besides the obvious two, is still a short list. DMac, Charles Alexander the Great, Emmit, Faulk, Sean Alexander (the best Gump back ever imo), and Rogers (coked up?).

Next group
Ingram, Henry, Cannon, Hearst, Moreno, Duece, Richardson, Mason, Hill.

As for Fornette, we will see.

What isn't mentioned is how the defensive side of the ball can play into the equation (Alabama recently), as can other skill positions (LSU with Hill). On the flip side, a shitty QB can make a running backs life hell (LF7, Rogers, S. Alexander). That is why stats don't tell the whole story unless you have an agenda. Just my thoughts though.

Sorry baw, but Mason's stats were because of the system. Any barn running back could've put up those stats as the starter

Was not comparing him to Fournette. Fournette isnt the alleged record breaker. If you're going to call him a record breaker you have to compare apples to apples.
HW had 1891 yds in 11 games. He had more rushing yards than they had passing yds.
DH 1797 yards in 12 games. Coker had better than 2500 yds passing in 12 games.

See how that works. Herschel was there offense. If not for Herschel Georgia probably wins 5 games in 1981

I don't know about "best", but in my life the "scariest" backs I remember playing were (so, since 1995ish when I actually remember attending games)

- D-Mac
- Kevin Faulk
- Todd Gurley
- Jamal Lewis
- Shaun Alexander

and that was with a mediocre QB and people stacking the box most of the year.

You need to brush up on your bama history.

You think

3000 yards passing
21tds-8ints
Qb rating 147
Is mediorce?

Jake Coker 2015 records at bama.
Passing yards 2nd alltime
Passing tds 4th alltime

LOL dude had one massive game in a spread system against a mediocre Missouri team. Dude isn't even in the top 10.

He is fifth on all time SEC rushing for a season and heavily split carries with Marshall, Payne and Grant. Bama's touted Henry got another 400 yards on an extra 80 carries over Mason. Don't down play mason's 2013 season, it was pretty awesome.

My pick on best behind Herschel, Bo and DMac would easily be Fournette. Fournette was the whole offense and has the second highest rushing season all time SEC and with a quarter less carries than the leader.

What? He had 317 carries. You cant counting it as splitting carries when he has 317 in a season. Tre mason is top 10-15 sec rbs alltime though.

Not really, he is dead on.

QB Ratings of the Saban Era
#1 - AJ McCarron (2012) - 175.3
#2 - Greg McElroy (2010) - 169.0
#3 - AJ McCarron (2013) - 167.2
#4 - Blake Sims (2014) - 157.9
#5 - AJ McCarron (2011) - 147.3
#6 - Jake Coker (2015) - 147.0
#7 - Greg McElroy (2009) - 140.5
#8 - John Parker Wilson (2008) - 121.5
#9 - John Parker Wilson (2007) - 114.6

He had the #6 best season of a QB in Saban's tenure and the worst since 2009. That's the bottom 1/3, decidedly mediocre.

So youre judging it all on qb rating?

He had the 2nd most passing yards in a season in bama history.
He had the 4th most passing tds in a season in bama history.
We all know qb rating is flawed at times.
He may not be a world beater but he sure wasnt mediocre.

Also you cat like you havent had extremely efficient qbs during Saban's tenure. Efficiency effects qb rating more than anything.

LOL - in games he was pulled early against MTSU, ULM and Charleston Southern. The only regular season game he played the whole game in which he was held under 100 yards was against Arkansas, who did a great job against him (he had 95 yards). He had 75 vs Michigan State in game (like Arkansas) in which they smushed the box and we made them pay through the air.

GTFOH with that nonsense.

He played 15 frickin games. Coker got better as the year went on and by the last 1/3 of the year he was a solid QB, but he had some nightmare stretches and was not heavily relied upon and trusted by the coaches until late in the year.

Derrick Henry kept our season afloat for 2 months on his back.

What does any of that have to do with lF only running against crap teams? Which was the point of my post?
