Now that we have decided that South Carolina will have the best DL, let's talk linebackers.

I heard Bama has some skull thumpers.

Please be specific with your nominations... names, links, stats, commentary, etc.

Bama is loaded 3 deep with elite LB talent. Too lazy to name names and rankings unless you insist. What about UGA?

UT. all white walk-on LB corps except starters Curt Maggit and AJ Johnson.

UGA takes a step back simply because we lost two of the best LBs we have ever had in Ogletree and Jarvis.

But Jordan jenkins is a terror and Amarlo herrera is hardly a slouch himself. We'll be mean and tough, just not as stout as this past season.

Really, though, it all starts withe DL (See SECCG). If they're not owning the line, the LBs can't be as effective

it doesn't really matter. UT's OL will destroy any front 7. Just ask last year's UGA and SC. Jarvis Jones got shut down.

I just wish UT could field more than five good blockers

Georgia returns two starters, Amarlo Herrera (ILB) and Jordon Jenkins (OLB).

Those two accounted for half of all fumbles recovered by UGA's defense in 2012. They are the kind of guys that are in the right place at the right time. You didn't hear too much about them because of JJ and Ogletree. You'll know who they are next year.

Ramik Wilson is the probably starter at the other ILB position. He also has plenty of playing time, but I don't think he started, maybe a starter when Ogletree was suspended for 4 games last year, and then played a backup role.

Josh Harvey-Clemons will likely be the other OLB, according to recent interviews with Grantham. He was a 5 Star safety in the 2012 recruiting class, he hasn't started, but he's apparently good enough that the coaches have openly said he will not only be starting, but they've created a special "Star" role for him in the 3-4 Spider Monkey defense, similar to a nickelback role that honeybadger played.

Spring practice will also allow another skull thumper, Leonard Floyd, an early enrollee from this year's class, to smack some mouths and make some plays. If he isn't a starter right away, he'll be a guy that can step in as a backup and not miss a beat.

TJ Stripling is another young guy, but he's been in the program for a while, 6-6 235, 4.6 40, he can play OLB too, if Harvey-Clemons gets pulled back into a safety-ish role in the Spider Monkey, Stripling can cover a slot receiver and also outman a tight end.

CJ Mosely will likely be the top ILB this year and arguably the best last year. He's certainly the best pass defender at the position, was a four star.

Trey Depriest is the other ILB, a very nice sized kid who was the #1 rated MLB from High School a couple years ago. Started lots of games last year and did really well.

Adrian Hubbard is another 4 star who is 6-6 240 and has above average speed. Been a mainstay at LB for a while now.

Xavier Dickson is a former 4 star DE and right now is a 270 pound Jack LB. Did well last year but I think he is moving to DE which will open up the door for either Ryan Anderson a five star and #1 rated LB for 247 when he came out and also five star Jonathon Allen who is 250 and has a 4.5 listed forty.

We have blue chip Denzal Duval who played last year as a freshman, Dillon Lee another blue chip who played last year as a freshman and scout.com #1 rated MLB from last year Reggie Ragland who played but got hurt early in the year.

We also bring in consensus #1 rated LB Reuben Foster this year and have a couple more studs I am forgetting about.

These guys were all rated at the top of their class. most have experience already and there is no better defensive coaching staff than Alabama to develop them into the beast that they are. Now what about the dawgs?

C.J. Mosley..

Although rated as a #1 draft pick by several scouts, C.J. decided to return for his senior season.

As a Junior, consensus first team All-American and first team All-SEC choice

... named first team All-America by the AFCA, Walter Camp, AP, Sporting News and Sports Illustrated

... was a finalist for 2012 Butkus Award, presented to the nation's top linebacker, and a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award (top defensive player)

... leads the team with 99 tackles (43 more tackles than the next player)

... equaled the Alabama career record for interceptions returned for touchdowns (3)

It has to be Alabama.

- Dickson, Hubbard, DePriest, and Mosley were all starters last year and are all back.

- Mosley was a unanimous (may be wrong on that) AA and a projected first round draft pick.

- Hubbard was one of the top rush backers in CFB

- Most of our LBs under Saban really emerge in their second season, so that is good for Hubbard, Dickson, and DePriest.

- Devall played a lot as the year went on and will be rushing a lot of QBs.

- Jonathan Allen is a five star OLB coming in and already has a grown man's body. Feed him to Coach Cochran and he'll be tearing people apart come September.

He had 106 I believe. It was 100 something.

I'm just being a little OCD about it, but Hubbard played at around 250 this past season. Should put on some more weight before this upcoming season.

Jonathon Allen who is 250

I believe he was listed closer to 265, but don't hold me to that one.

OK, Bama wins.

But UGA is probably a #2.

The rest of the conference LB corp is shite.

LSU has some young guys that have potential, talking Kwon and Jones, just need to see how they develop.
