LSU 03.
The talent difference between 92 and 03 is what makes it happen. Both were amazing defenses though.

Clearly LSU 03. That is my completley non-biased opinion.

LSU '03. I bet opposing QBs from that year still have night terrors from facing that nightmare defense!

The secondary on 92 Bama team was more talented, but the front 7 of LSU 03 was legendary. Even though the Bama 92 linebackers were better, the D line of 03 LSU was the best I've ever seen.

Alabama's defense in 1979 was unbelievable.

You haven't been around or seen much then. Curry/Copeland at DE was two of the best.... ever.

I'm sorry, but I don't remeber LSU in 03 having players that did anything like this.
Not to mention, I want to say the defense averaged scoring a touchdown a game that year.
quote:
In the end, defensive backs Antonio Langham and George Teague both had six interceptions on the season. In other words, they were as good a defensive back tandem as you’re going to find in the annals of SEC lore. Copeland and Curry were by far the best duo of ends that the modern SEC has seen, with each posting 10.5 sacks on the season.
Despite all the individual accomplishments, what's most impressive is that the unit surrendered only 9.2 points per game, giving up only 20 points on one occasion.
Ultimately, an argument can be made that the Tide's defense from 1992 is the best that college football has ever seen.

If I remember correctly didn't Bama's D in '92 have 6 or 7 either 1st or 2nd team All Americans?

An argument can be made they weren't the best ever.

But an argument can be made they were the best ever too. LSU 2003, not so much.
