In terms of winning percentage (Post WW2):

BEST TEN YEAR PERIODS:

89.2%- Alabama (1971-1980)
86.0%- Ole Miss (1954-1963)
82.9%- Tennessee (1989-1998)
82.0%- Florida (1990-1999)
81.1%- LSU (2003-2012)
79.3%- Texas A&M (1985-1994)
78.0%- Arkansas (1961-1970)
77.2%- Auburn (1954-1963)
76.4%- Georgia (1978-1987)
76.2%- Missouri (1960-1969)
70.4%- Kentucky (1946-1955)
65.4%- S. Carolina (2004-2013)
57.8%- Miss. St. (1991-2000)
53.4%- Vanderbilt (1946-1955)

WORST TEN YEAR PERIODS:

51.2%- Tennessee (2005-2014)
50.0%- Alabama (1949-1958)
47.6%- LSU (1948-1957)
45.7%- Georgia (1949-1958)
45.1%- Arkansas (1945-1954)
45.0%- Florida (1946-1955)
42.9%- Ole Miss (1979-1988)
38.5%- Auburn (1945-1954)
38.5%- S. Carolina (1959-1968)
32.7%- Texas A&M (1963-1972)
30.8%- Miss. St. (1964-1973)
30.2%- Kentucky (1966-1975)
28.8%- Missouri (1985-1994)
22.3%- Vanderbilt (1995-2004)

Interesting Points:

*As bad as Tennessee's recent period has been (2005-2014), its actually the "best" worst ten year period of any of the current 14 SEC programs.

*A total of SIX current SEC programs experienced their worst 10-year periods during a time that straddled the 1940s and 1950s (Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Georgia, and Arkansas)

*A total of FIVE SEC programs emerged from their program low water mark by winning an SEC Championship within 3 seasons after hitting that low:
Auburn's worst years were from 1945-1954... Won Title in 1957
LSU's worst years were from 1948-1957... Won Title in 1958
Georgia's worst years were from 1949-1958... Won Title in 1959
Alabama's worst years were from 1949-1958... Won Title in 1961
Kentucky's worst years were from 1966-1975... Won Title in 1977

*TWELVE of the 14 SEC programs are currently experiencing a decade of football in which they've been over the .500 mark. Kentucky (.440) and Vanderbilt (.401) fall short.

*The last time each program looked back at a 10-year period in which they had a losing record (Post WW2):

Never- Tennessee
Never- Alabama
1955- Florida
1956- Auburn
1964- Georgia
1975- Texas A&M
1999- Arkansas
1999- LSU
2005- Missouri
2007- S. Carolina
2013- Mississippi St.
2014- Ole Miss
Current- Kentucky
Current- Vanderbilt

*The Quickest Turn-Around from a post WW2 low to a high:
Example: Auburn's worst 10-year period was from 1945-1954. Their best ten-year period was from 1954-1963. From 1954-1963 was ten seasons.

10 seasons: Auburn (from 1954 to 1963)
16 seasons: Arkansas (from 1954-1970)
22 seasons: Alabama (from 1958 to 1980)
22 seasons: Texas A&M (from 1972 to 1994)
27 seasons: Miss. St. (from 1973 to 2000)
29 seasons: Georgia (from 1958 to 1987)
44 seasons: Florida (from 1955 to 1999)
45 seasons: S. Carolina (from 1968 to 2013)
55 seasons: LSU (from 1957 to 2012)

*Number of seasons in which a program could enjoy the fact that its previous 10-year winning percentage was better than 70.0% (all post-WW2):

38 seasons- Alabama
27 seasons- Tennessee
25 seasons- Florida
23 seasons- Arkansas
22 seasons- Georgia
20 seasons- Auburn
19 seasons- LSU
18 seasons- Ole Miss
10 seasons- Texas A&M
5 seasons- Missouri

South Carolina, Mississippi State, Kentucky, nor Vanderbilt have ever enjoyed a 10-year period of greater than 70% win %.

*Last year in which a team could look back and say they had won 70% or more of its games over the previous decade:

current- Florida (25 straight seasons of being able to claim that)
current- Georgia (12)
current- LSU (9)
current- Alabama (6)
2013- Auburn
2007- Tennessee
2001- Texas A&M
1989- Arkansas
1971- Ole Miss
1970- Missouri

UT isn't out of the woods yet. The Vols are flirting with joining the other 12 SEC schools not named Alabama with falling under the 50% winning percentage mark for a 10-year period.

Tennessee's past 10 seasons (2006-2015) have produced a winning percentage of 53.5%... up from 51.2% from 2005-2014. But the bump up had as much to do with the horrible 2005 season falling out (5-6 record) than it was the improved 9-4 season of 2015 being added to the calculation.

The problem for UT is that it's currently counting two pretty solid seasons which is keeping it slightly above 50% for the last decade:

9-4 in 2006
10-4 in 2007

These are about to roll off...

Tennessee is 49-51 during the past 8 seasons. You'll have to finish at least 2 games above .500 the next two years to keep from going under .500 for a 10-year period for the first time in Vol history.

I don't see that being a problem, barring catastrophe.

Meh our worst is still better than most's worst. History reveals the classic truth in college football: what goes up must come down. We've had our dark years, time to ascend once again. This era we will also benefit from the explosion of our instate population. Draw a 3/4 radius around Knoxville and it is surrounded by a very elite recruiting base.

Am I the only one who thinks that conference championships from other conferences don't mean jack when compared to other SEC teams?

This includes non-SEC conference championships for all teams, Bama, LSU, etc.

The fact that Arkansas enjoyed 23 seasons (during a 25 year period) of being able to claim a 70% W% or better for the previous 10 years is impressive.

The problem is that Arkansas has not been able to claim such since 1989... 3 years before moving into the SEC. And since joining the league, the Hogs have not been close.

Arkansas' high water mark since joining the SEC occurred in 2011. At the conclusion of that season, Arkansas' previous 10-year winning percentage was at 62.2%... the highest it had been since '92. But that's not even close to the 70% mark that this stat is calculating.

Arkansas' current 10-year winning percentage sits at 57.8%. The Hogs would have to go something like 58-9 over the next five seasons to hit the 70% winning percentage for a decade by 2020... in other words, the drought will continue for quite awhile.

At this pace, it looks like the Hogs need to focus on finishing at least 31-33 over the next five years to stay above the .500 mark for a decade.

In other words, you aren't "Big 6".
