The debate over who is the "best all-time SEC football player" often comes down to whether you pick the player who was the best player (i.e. individual records, success in the NFL, etc) or the player who contributed the most to his team (i.e. the Most Valuable Player)... Opinions?

Tebow has to be in the conversation, in terms of what he accomplished in college.

Best College Player - Tim Tebow
Best Football Player - Reggie White

Cam was probably the most athletically gifted.
Now I'm going to go drink bleach to try and forget I ever said that

Best one season- Cam Newton
Best overall- Bo Jackson
Best overall- Bo Jackson

If Cam had stayed for more than one season I'd probably say him without a doubt. Because he wasn't and other players have it makes the decision more difficult. There are just so many excellent players over the years. Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, John Hannah, etc. It's hard enough to make an All-Time All-SEC list.

I was just about to say Bo Jackson... Or how about Herschel Walker?

Trindon Holliday. He played at LSU for 17 years.

Since I've been watching:
1. Cam
2. Tebow
3. DMAC

If the criteria is the player responsible for the most points, we have to give it to Blair Walsh. Unfortunately, that presents an untenable Catch-22 as kickers aren't football players.

I was just thinking this morning that I vastly underappreciate just how dang good Darren MacFadden was.

i think twice, damn shame. his numbers are better than Bo's while playing one less year. Herschel Walker is the greatest CFB running back though. non stop beast mode.

Yeah, DMAC was second in Heisman to Troy Smith in '06 and second to Tebow in '07.

As far as College alone, it has to be Tebow. For three years he was synonymous with college football.

best season: Cam (duh)
best overall: Herschel or Tebow (both were 3x Heisman finalists).
Edit: Just talking about college here.
