but Cam was 2nd in the country in passing efficiency

Along with a big arm he threw the touch pass great. The only question was/is can he read NFL defenses? So far, so good. I think he is going to be tremendous.

Wrong.

He's going to (bookmark it now) become the GoaT QB in NFL history.

He'll win 4 Superbowls on 4 trips.

He'll set every Rushing record for a QB.

He'll swag on defenses, but he'll break out the Super Swag in the playoffs.

As far as 1 season players go Nick Fairly had a huge impact pretty much dominated 2010' 28 tackles for loss or something like that.. that's crazy

Don't be ridiculous. The topic is "Best All-Time SEC football player". Fairley isn't even a Top 10 player in Auburn history. The guy had 84 tackles in his entire career.

All Time in UF history in my opinion is Spurrier, Wes Chandler (highest drafted wr in SEC history)Wilbur Marshall, Tim Tebow

For SEC....my top players would be Spurrier (you younger guys have no clue), Chandler, Tim Tebow, Wilbur Marshall along with Herschel, Tucker Fredrickson (AU rb), Billy Neighbors, Bo Jackson, Bill Stanfill (UGA DL), Archie & Peyton Manning

Herschel for several reasons. He dominated college football from the start of his career to the day he left (That eliminates Cam. Didn't start or even play much at UF). He was the featured back in an I-formation offense with no passing attack to speak of. Herschel was touching the ball 40+ times a game. Bo was a back in an option offense. So, while the best player on his offense, he wasn't as "featured" or isolated a weapon as Herschel was in the UGa offense.
As far as the "eyeball" test: Herschel just seemed to me like more of a force of nature than Tebow.

I really like Cam Newton, but he isn't near the top. No matter how good he looked, he only played one season. That really hurts him in my eye cause all those teams he beat would have used different game plans the following season and possibly shut him down or prevented him from having another great season.

Are we talking about best SEC players ever and leaving out defensive guys?
I'll throw some in just from the past 15 years or so off top of my head
Patrick Peterson
Rolando Mclain
Glen Dorsey
John Abraham
Eric Berry
Demeco Ryans
Reggie Nelson
David Pollack

that's just guys I can remember watching, I'm a lot younger than a lot of y'all so give me some more defensive greats

Three defensive players stand out to me in my lifetime (and I'm way older than most):

Patrick Willis
Derrick Thomas
Tracy Rocker

Out of those 3, I would say DT was slightly above the other 2. But, that's probably the Bama homer in me coming out. The other two were MEN, no doubt..

The more I think about it, the more I want to say Cam. Who cares if he only played 1 season?

Auburn was lucky that no teams had game film on Cam as 2010 progressed.

Had Cam stayed, Auburn's opponents would have been fortunate that Auburn would not have even considered using different game plans.

ETA: 'Linebacker U' had all season to study and still couldn't stop Cam. What team could have done better against him in 2011?
