Correct. Magadan holds the career average record in the SEC at .439 (10th in NCAA History)
In '83 he hit .525. Also best in sec history
Then there's Eddy Furniss, who holds the SEC career record for home runs (80), career record for RBIs (308), career record for 2Bs (87), career record for hits (352), and 2nd in runs scored (261)
Brandon Larson, while playing only one season, had a 40 home run 118 RBI season.
I could go on, but I guess the point is, there are a lot of players that had more impressive COLLEGE careers than Frank Thomas. Honestly, if you go by the numbers, he really isn't even in the conversation. Here's a link to the SEC record book if anyone is interested LINK

Chris Burke was a helluva player too

I'd argue Aaron Nola was a better college player than Thomas. Along with a ton more.
Doesn't take away from what The Big Hurt did in pro ball for sure.

Wow, I didn't know that. Who would have guessed it?

I'd go with Alex Avila for Bama

Arkansas - Cliff Lee (SP), 44.3 WAR

Ian Kinsler is dominant.
Also, Max Scherzer is averaging 6.04 WAR over his last 5 seasons

Not at the big league level. He never came anywhere close to his expectations. Short career, but he will always be loved in Houston.

Suck it, ATL

How is Missouri not Mad Max Scherzer ?

Payback for Walt Weiss I guess

Meh, not the same, but Maddux and his 3 inches off the bate calls will forever anger me. The one time we don't face ATL in the 90s and Kevin Brown has the series of his life. So many wasted opportunities for Houston in the late 90s.

Because Ian Kinsler is quietly an elite caliber player.
11 seasons
.277 .344 .451
1696 hits, 353 doubles, 38 triples, 212 HR
787 RBI's, 211 SB's
4 All-Star Selections
1 Gold Glove
52.9 Career WAR (8th among active)

Tim Hudson's Golden spikes 1997 season may be the best SEC season ever. 18-2 as a pitcher with a 2.7 ERA. .397 average at the plate with 18 homeruns. 1997 was the greatest SEC season ever overall. LSU, Bama, AU, MSU all made the CWS and the bats were absolutely juiced. College baseball at its finest.

Actually I just saw the name that is the winner. Eddy Furness no doubt.

Had no idea Cliff Lee went to Arkansas

Not bad considering we have never cared about college baseball.

WTF is WAR?
I look at Batting Average HRs and RBI, maybe im old school being in my 30's. This is what I grew up looking at.
