Well his contract is up after this year. They don't even need to fire him to move on. They need to hire Chris Burke and he apparently wants the job

Hard to say but he can't be worse. But you're talking about a guy with MLB experience and success at the college level as a player. Blake Dean, for instance, is a pretty similar guy from LSU. He has UNO as a bubble team this year, his 1st as HC, and they won like 6 games total a few years ago. His experience as an actual coach was very limited, was a grad assistant at LSU and an assistant at UNO for a year or so. I think youth can many times attract players when you have a situation like Tennessee.
