Based on Alabama's recruiting, will they shift to more of an LSU style defense?

Alabama got raped by the better offenses this year but it was definitely a personnel problem more than scheme IMO. LSU has always been able to stop those offenses no matter the amount of talent or ranking they have. So, with the different type of players Nick has started to recruit, as well as the shifting landscape of college football, does the rant think Alabama's defense will look a lot more like LSU's scheme and player wise in the future?

tl:dr - Do you think the short little cheating, lying, stealing bastard will start to defend like the Mad Hatter?

Yep and he brought in Kiffen to use the HUNH on offense as well.

IMO Saban built NFL defenses. They work against most teams and even when they didn't dominate they still found ways to win. He realizes with the mobile quarterbacks he'll need faster more athletic guys.

I think he's bringing in the type of players to stop any kind of offense.

We are still recruiting 280-300 pound defensive ends and 240-250 pound linebackers like we always have to stop the pro style offenses (the lsu's and georgia's of the world), but he is also now bringing in the 240-260 pound ends and 210-230 pound linebackers to combat the spread. (the aggies)

He's basically covering all his bases and this defense is going to be disgusting by 2015. Like 2011 disgusting

At least when they play Auburn and Texas A&M I hope so...LSU seems to have the blueprint for stoppin' 'em...

Works very well against power, run-oriented teams such as LSU, unfortunately.

Just allows for more of a multiple defense. Which Alabama has moved more towards anyways. Chris Miller and Rashaan Evans could be elite pass rushing LBs, but they are still large OLBs.

No, we won't employ the "3rd and Smart".

You won't see a switch of our defensive style. I think he is adjusted to the increased speed. When he started out LSU, Florida were the big names to get by in order to win a championship. And while Florida was fast, Tebow was a power run type QB. Now with Auburn, A&M, Ole Miss, etc going to a spread type offense and having success, he must recruit to stop that.

He may be starting to look for Linebacker that can run first and foremost and going after the bigger ones harder as opposed to looking for big linebackers and going after the ones that can run primarily.

In this league, you better have the personnel to play both styles. Makes since.

Will LSU make it a decent game against Bama this year? You guys need not worry so much about other teams with that anemic offense LSU will field in 2014.

you have no clue what the LSU offense will look like.

I think we do know that Bama's special teams will cost them a game.

Nick's changing some things up - I doubt he will be a coach that sits back a lets the "game" pass him by in his old age. I'm glad that his desire to win won't let his coaching philosophy become complacent and stagnant.

Meanwhile what should we be worried about the fact UTK has not been to a bowl game since 2010 or that they haven't won a bowl game since 2008

LSU didn't shut down Ole Miss in 2010, 2012, and 2013, but I suppose "rivalry" games are excluded from your argument even though said rival hasn't been an SEC power in half a century.
