Baseball in Hoover

I am in my 30's, a single dad, a Hoover High graduate, UAB grad, and an LSU fan. I own a home 3 minutes from the stadium, so let me clarify a few things about Hoover, the Met, and the tournament:
First, you do not want the tournament at the new Barons stadium. I would not sleep in a Humvee, much less an RV, in downtown Birmingham. The weekend games would be fine, but you can't pull thousands of people into MOST downtown cities during the work week. It would overwhelm the city's infrastructure. A (one) night game is one thing, 5 days straight of 24/7 security is another. Downtown Bham is NOT a good site for a multi day event!!!
So let's talk about the Met/Hoover:
For the Family/RV people:
-The Met is clean
-RV parking is plentiful
-At least 10, 3.5-4.5 star hotels, and 30-40 restaraunts within 5-10 min of the stadium.
-Parking is free, so you can come and go as you please. (Would never happen in ANY downtown area!)
-Super Walmart, Super Target, and other stores within 3-5 minutes of the stadium. So if you need anything, it's right there.
-Huge Indoor Mall (renovated) 5 min away for rainy/sunny/hot days if ya wanna get away with the family.
-$70 million dollar sports facility is about to break ground on land next to the met! Hoover will use the facility for other events during the tourney!!
-The police force is second to none. Your safety in Hoover is virtually guaranteed! Don't speed and NEVER DUI!!! They also train at the met in the event of an attack on the stadium. No, I'm not kidding!! I haven't seen any reports, but I doubt a single car was broken into at the met. I doubt a single assault occurred on the grounds. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED!!
I am a single dad with a 5 yr old daughter and it's just us 26 days a month. Within 15 minutes of my house, there are more kid friendly activities than you could ever do in a month. Parks, museums, theaters, zoo and more.. So, it's great for families and the RV people.
For those young adults looking to have a good time:
There are 5-10 bars REALLY close to the stadium. Use Uber or a cab and go have a good time. If ya wanna party all night, go downtown. Lakeview and Uptown are open til 2-4am depending on the night. There are plenty of bars, clubs, boos, men and women for all to have fun! Btw, you can also choose from a number of 3.5-4.5 star hotels downtow if you'd rather stay there and come to Hoover for the games. It's a 10-15 min drive. I bartended my way through college at UAB, there are PLENTY of bars!! If you want some suggestions, feel free to hit me up next time you're around here. The 4-5 days a month my daughter goes with her mom, I'm out having a good time myself.
There are also some really fun daytime activities for young adults (60mph gocart track, indoor climbing gyms, Red Mountain Park and more) that are a blast during the day!!
My life is split between single dad life and successful bachelor looking for a good time life.. Im telling you, anyone can have a good time around here. You're not gonna find a map with attractions.. People around here know where to go, you just have to ask. It's not like Nashville or Bourbon, where everything is packed together and you head to one place. We have a different areas/districts depending on what you want! If/when any of you come to Hoover/Bham, I'd be more than happy to give you guys a list of fun things to do!!
FWIW, I'm not saying other cities would not work!! ALL I'm just saying there is NOTHING wrong with Hoover, for the uninformed posters on here!!
And, if you want to rotate the baseball tourney, shouldn't we rotate the SECCG (few suitable places) and basketball tourney as well?!?
Geaux Tigers!

If you want to be an uninformed jackass and bitch about Hoover, go for it!! You'd probably bitch about it no matter where it was hosted.
If you want to understand how you could enjoy the SEC Tourn in Hoover, since it's staying in Hoover, read the post..

That redneck FOG probably can't name a single player on Alabama's Baseball team

Chandler Taylor is from Montgomery Alabama, went to ACA, played youth baseball at East Montgomery and was an all star pitcher there. He has a dad named Billy Taylor who was his coach and also all star coach.
Next?
Next?

There are no 4.5 star hotels in the state of Alabama.

I see no reason why we couldn't get competing bids every year from all regional major cities. Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, Charleston, Atlanta, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Houston, St. Louis, and of course the current Birmingham. Hell even Little Rock and Jackson if they cleaned up a bit.
Every SEC state has a major city with something unique to offer. Some of course better than others but overall we've got a lot to choose from.

But the Met is good for this much lower class of ball. I mean, c'mon, its college baseball, not even A ball worthy.

While the parks in those towns are great, he outlined in his post exactly why having a 5-6 day baseball tournament in the downtown of a major city is just NOT a good idea that will not work well.
Come up with some ideas in the suburbs of those city to compete with Hoover and then we'll talk moving or rotating the tournament.

If we rotate the football SECCG, the ACC will take over Atlanta. I don't think the conference will stand for that.
Makes it all the more fair that the conference should at least throw a meager scrap to the western edge of the conference, say maybe rotate the baseball tournament to the west every few years?
idgaf how many rv spots Hoover has.

I've attended a college baseball tournament in a large city, and it worked very well.
