Bammers, what are you hearing about Tua and playing time so far?

Less than 3 weeks to go. Saban said Tua will play this year. Former OC Kiffin said something similar, that he's too talented not to be playing in some capacity. I've watched film of him and there's no doubt he can play. Do you think Saban is eventually planning on running a dual QB system since Tua and Hurts are both young,or only specific packages for him? Thanks for your time and War Damn Eagle

It doesn't work that way in Tuscaloosa. Nobody knows or tells anything. If we did tell you, then we'd have to kill you, so...

It won't be a true dual-QB system, but he will play a good bit.

He's not as fast as Hurts, but he can run pretty well too.

Word is that Hurts has made some marked improvements in his downfield passing and is pretty entrenched as the starter but Tua will play in order to get him more experience in case Hurts goes down or struggles unexpectedly, as he is the clear number two with no other experienced QBs on the roster.

I heard that if Hurts hasn't significantly improved his passing game Tua will be the starter by the end of the regular season.

Stuff doesn't really get out of Alabama camp so anyone telling you they are in the know is probably just bullshitting you.

My opinion is Hurts was good enough last year to be pretty entrenched as the starter but I think Saban wants a viable back up plan (for injury or poor performance) so Tua will not redshirt and he will get meaningful back up time. If he balls out and Hurts struggles, you never know a switch could happen.

I heard that we are looking to bring back Cooper Bateman to be Jalen's backup because Tua is not happy in his role..

I'll take that bet because they praised his improved accuracy at the qb camps, and he threw some great deep balls in the spring game.

I would be VERY surprised if he played any more than mop-up duty. He will get exposure because we need a competent backup should Hurts go down.

There is no qb controversy in Tuscaloosa

Yea, he'll be the backup so they'll get him as many reps as they can in early games I'd guess.

Why? He has all the tools. I'd be more likely to bet it was true, considering what it means.
