Bamas decline on defense

Bruce Feldman mentioned this on Twitter earlier.
In Bama's last 14 games, it's defense is giving up 21 PPG and has allowed 40 points or more 4 times.
In Bama's previous 80 games before that, their defense allowed 12 PPG and gave up 40 or more just once.

Maybe another #1 recruiting class will fix it.

The secondary is an utter disaster. Technique and fundamentals are worse that I can recall any Bama secondary having, and I'm absolutely including the sanction-strapped Shula years.
I have absolutely no explanation for how we've reached this point.

Saban is headed to Indy after the season. The owner of the Colts went for Saban back in the 1990's and will be going after him again this season.

I haven't watched Bama much this season aside from the 2nd half vs. Ole Miss.
Is the pass rush or lack thereof still an issue?

Nick Saban isn't the defensive genius everyone thought he was.

The pass rush has improved. Bama slapped down a bunch of passes up front against Ole Miss.
The front 7 isn't a problem.

No more Jeremy Pruitt?

I think Pruitt leaving was a huge loss.

There's definitely validity to Feldman s comments.
Big plays have absolutely killed Bama in their recent losses.
I wouldn't put it all on the DBs. It's everyone. No QB pressure, etc.
We've changed OCs several times over the past few years, but not DC. Perhaps a fresh set of eyes on defense could help. Kirby Smart is fine, but perhaps just a differing philosophy could help the Tide.

Pruitt's departure could certainly have something to do with it.

Terrible secondary, no consistent pass rush and not having that huge nose guard to clog the middle has rendered our D as mediocre. To many big plays given up.

The LK effect... I did not believe my Bama friends about needing a power football team to have a good defense, Saban needs to go back to smash mouth football.
OR
The defense stinks, so you need LK to win games (See 55-44)

I think Bama has a good shot against UGA in Athens.
Their strengths on defense match up better with how UGAs offense plays, rather than the spread offenses that have given Bama issues.

I'm going to need some rumors about Kirby Smart banging the fax girl to visualize what you are trying to say.

Teams have learned to throw against the DBs who will either interfere or won't make a play because they are taught to face guard and not turn and make a play on the ball.

Bama's feeling the effects of losing Kevin Steele.

The decline is everywhere in Gumpville, not just defense. Hell look at Nick's face and tell me he's a happy little fella.
Somehow I just dont believe Saban will go down with the ship. Not that kind of a guy; even for the great institution of Alabama that made him a national hero.
he will run to another place and leave the gumps to fend for themselves. i do hope he does it in Janaury after lying about it for a year.
