would say it has been more that Bama's defense hasn't been up to standard the last 2 years. I expect that to change this year.

Think what the landscape of the SEC looked like in 2008.
The West consisted of Huston Nutts first year replacing Orgeron , Petrino's first year replacing Nutt, Croom, Miles and Tuberville. Throw in Bama's other big game against a stumbling Phil Fulmer, and you see how they could get away without a good QB. The only Offense power they played was UF. We saw what happened in that game.

If you can get your team GPA up to 2.0, THEN everyone will be shocked.

Not unless one of them has an electric eel hanging out his arse --- everbody knows UAT doesn't need a great QB to be okay - just look at history

Larry. If you ever get the opportunity you should kill yourself.

We won 12 games with John Parker Wilson and with way less talent. We will be fine. Saban has prepared accordingly. Our defense will carry us if need be. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know football or the history of Saban.

While that may be impressive, Les won 13 with JJ/JL. So I wouldn't call Bama "shocking" anyone with 1 out of 5 top QB recruits playing in ya'll system.

And the line about "but... but... We've won with a shitty QB before" is clearly BS

He was a gamer...a gladiator with somewhat limited skills. Bama has more skill on their roster but probably not that kind of competitive fire.

Look at the league the last 7 years, and you can see that all any team needed was the ability to stop the run. The only decent passing QBs were Tebow, Cam, JFF, Mallet, and Murray. Bama could get away with playing good D and running the ball. Things have changed the last three years.

Good way to avoid the discussion, deflect, deflect, deflect. Bama's success has been mainly due to avoiding teams that Saban/Smart has shown an inability to stop. Who have they played in the BCS:
Texas without McCoy
LSU (rematch with a team built similar)
ND (designed to play power football like Bama, but with less talent)

When they play the good up tempo teams they are around .500:
AU (1-2)
Ole Miss (1-1)
A&M (2-1))
UGA (1-0)
UF (1-1)
MSU (1-0)
Utah (0-1)
OK (0-1)
OSU (0-1)
