Were Les Miles the coach of LSU, and were LSU lining in in double tight end and running the off guard dive EVERY SINGLE PLAY, then this would be another arse stomping by Bama. However, this LSU team is completely different than it was in the first two games. For the first time in recent memory, it's actually using its assets...and everybody knows it has some NFL caliber assets. LSU is a two loss team...with those two losses coming under Miles and by virtue of the "stack the box" mentality those defenses could employ. It's like a different season now. You can't do that anymore with this team. Defense has gotten solid, and the offense has opened up. I think the new LSU is going to give Bama all they can handle and then some, and Bama is going to have a hard time figuring out what defense to run. Just my perception of now vs. then... Also, I believe that had LSU opened up at the beginning of the season, they'd be undefeated, and this game would be No. 1 vs. No. 2 again. Have at it.

No it's not, you guys are unbearable.

It's like we have this same conversation every year -- LSU is relevant, gonna beat Bama and then Bama tramples LSU.

Stop, holy shite.

If Etling is more accurate and can take advantage of Bama's secondary then yes, this is going to be a game. If he throws like he did vs Ole Miss... you guys in trouble.

Yes... I know... 19/28. That wasn't the issue. Don't quote that stat. Well aware of that.

Nope.

Pro style QB with a run first offense=6 in a row, nothing has changed in regards to how bad LSU matches up with Alabama's defense.

yes. but "old" LSU would've made an absolute mess of the last 3 games. "New" LSU is vastly improved. I feel like we at least have chance now right?

So when we first fired Miles it was LSU won't be bowl eligible, then we were going to get blasted by an Ole Miss team that was awesome, and now we won't be able to compete with Bama. What will your excuse be in two weeks?

The only thing that we do know for sure is that aTm hasn't ever been good enough to beat LSU as a member of the SEC....I don't see that changing for damn sure. Calm down little bro.

This is the first year since 2012 where I thought LSU will win the game. Mostly bc Bama is playing a freshman QB in Death Valley against a really good Dave Aranda defense. The offensive staff has their work cut out for them but at least we know we won't just run into a brick wall for 4 quarters. I'm thinking a 20-17 game that goes either way.

It doesn't appear to me that LSU is doing much different schematically they're just executing at a higher level.

Which isn't to say that it can't work against Alabama but if you're expecting three games against defenses that are all in the bottom half of national rankings to be representative of what's going to happen you're probably setting yourself up for disappointment.

How about "I feel as if LSU actually has a chance this year." I think most rational tiger fans feel the same.

I'd wager a bet you haven't watched much LSU since 2012 then.

Have you noted the number of targets and receptions to tight ends since Les' demise? How about the number of misdirection run plays....granted the runs against Ole Miss were just our OL basically dick slapping OM all night but that's what we should do to Ole Miss.

I'm interested to see what our offense can do against Alabama. I'm not sure we won't be able to pass effectively early to open up Fournette late....but hell I could be wrong since Bama's defense is better than the 86 Bears.

LSU is actually doing a good bit of stuff different schematically. Alot less FB, alot more zone blocking. LF7 and Guice on the field at the same time. Way more RPOs. Pushing the ball down field more. Passing more of first down. We are still a pro-style run first team but we do things differently.

If LSU can stop Bama's run (mostly) then it will be a game.

No, it's going to be a tall task with Bama...always is. But, this year, we are not going to continue to run LF7 straight ahead into a brick wall/stacked box for 4 quarters either, as we have done in the past few years. With Ensminger, we actually seem to have some strategy and actually run plays out of different sets, including...PASSING... that will give us a better chance to move the ball or at least have a chance of keeping Bama off balance. Then again, it's still Alabama...and lots have tried. We will see. (I guess if you want a litmus test to see where you are at, playing the Tide is a good one to help figure it out!!!)

I'm picking Alabama until LSU proves otherwise. I believe (hope) it's another good game (injury free) like the last few in DV, with LSU edging out a win.

I had this same thought.....if we can do that (which isn't out of the question....our Line has been pretty decent all year against the run and our LB's have played out of their mind this season) I could see this game going into the 4th Q at something like 10-3 or 14-7 one way or the other.

This game being in BR also has to be factored in somewhere.

I heard on the radio this morning a guy talking about in the past 4-5 years we've played Bama with a very conservative strategy trying not to F up too much and hoping that something miraculous happens in the 4th Q (pretty good analysis in my eyes)....but this year O is all about taking the game...we aren't going to sit back this year we are going to bring the fight to you. I'm fricking pumped to see it to be honest with you. Yea we might lose but I'm tired of sitting back like a bunch of losers just trying not to make a mistake....let's take the fight to them.
