Time to move the wcsb world series out of Oklahoma.
Womens soccer in NJ has 5.. (thats right,5) times as many fans in the stands. Sure the tv ratings are up, but move it around the country.
Would be better for the sport as a whole.

oh... and Bama 4, LSU 2 tonight.

Refs will probably give the game to Bama.

How big is the soccer stadium? Softball is usually always packed. Why not keep it in the center of the country so it's not (that) far for anyone no matter where they're coming from.

Nope, will give it to LSU to ensure it is not an all SEC WCWS Final. Tide is the only SEC school on that side of the bracket. If umps give it to LSU it means PAC or B1G will be in the Finals

what are you talking about? If LSU wins, it'll play Michigan too

Red Bull Stadium, just north of 26,000.

They could play the softball "game of your life" in a 26,000 seat stadium and it wouldn't sell out.

Depends on who was close by. For the lesser sports team proximity seems to matter more.

I agree. It's more likely you'd get 10k for a softball game in Tuscaloosa than you would in LA. I just don't see what OP is saying about OKC. From all I can tell, they do a great job of hosting. You can tell they've spent money upgrading the stadium in recent years. I expect the WCWS will be there a good long while, and I'm fine with that.

With the rise of SEC softball at the national level and the added exposure (and future growing TV interest) from the SECN it seems most probable that softball will grow steadily in OK in the next decade. If the B12 was smart they would really push it due to member school proximity.

Move it around.
Softball is getting huge tv ratings right now, and the excitement would be enhanced if it was rotated between the big 5 conferences.
imo...

This isn't basketball or football.

Omaha and OKC are special for their respective sports. There's no need to move the CWS' around because both venues have spent millions in recent years to assure they keep the events. They did their part. The NCAA isn't (and they shouldn't) going to move either around.

Not really. Outside of Michigan the B1G does not seem to embrace it. Tho several PAC schools excel at it there are as many or more who would not have the fans to follow. Probably the same with the ACC so really the south or southwest may be the only places where it would really sell well.

Sure fans travel to Omaha for the men but the locals probably still pick up the majority of the tickets even when their local team does not make the final 8.

Used to be, you're right...
But guys like me that have both soccer and softball players in the house, softball is a rising sport and soccer is falling.

I see this as well

In teen age male sports the SEC may have to embrace lacrosse just because so many teen age kids are bypassing football to play this sport.

Softball on a collegiate level is taking off in Alabama and in the south. I agree. On a national level, it can't get much traction without the Olympics.

Yup. Softball is much bigger in Louisiana than soccer. LSU and ULL are always pretty damn good, and even Mcneese is always competitive
