THE GAME: The No. 10/9 University of Alabama football team hits the road for the third time this season, traveling to College Station for an SEC matchup with the No. 9/10 Texas A&M Aggies. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce calling the action. Eli Gold and Phil Savage will handle the radio call on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, with Chris Stewart serving as the sideline reporter.

SERIES HISTORY: Alabama leads the series with Texas A&M by a 5-2 margin, dating back to the first meeting in the 1942 Cotton Bowl (following the 1941 season).

3-and-OUT: The Alabama defense has totaled 29 three-and-outs in the past three games to move the Crimson Tide into a tie for first place nationally at 6.83 per game. The Tide has forced a three-and-out on 41-of-92 drives this season (44.6 percent), including 29-of-48 in the past three games (60.4 percent). Marshall shares the national lead with the Crimson Tide at 6.83 three-and-outs per game with Clemson third with 6.80. Alabama’s 43.6 percent ranks tied for sixth nationally.

HOLDING OPPONENTS UNDER 300:
On Oct. 10, Alabama limited Arkansas to 220 yards of total offense, the fifth time the Tide has kept a team under 300 in 2015. UA held Georgia to 299 yards, ULM to 92 yards of offense and also limited Middle Tennessee to 275 yards of offense, one week after holding Wisconsin to 268 yards of total offense in the season opener. In head coach Nick Saban’s 114game tenure at Alabama, the Crimson Tide has limited opponents to under 300 yards of total offense 71 times, or 62.3 percent of the time.

D-LINE BATTING PASSES: Alabama’s heralded defensive line has found multiple ways of affecting the quarterback five games into the 2015 season. The Tide’s defensive front leads the nation in batted passes with 15 among its defensive ends and nose guards.

Aggies

Fourth-year A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin will be seeking his 10th victory over an AP Top 25 opponent when the Aggies battle the Crimson Tide. Among all A&M coaches, Sumlin ranks No. 3 in AP Top 25 wins behind NFF Hall of Famer R.C. Slocum (17) and Jackie Sherrill (10). Sumlin has compiled an 9-9 record vs. top 25 foes in his first 44 games at Texas A&M.

Freshman WR/RS Christian Kirk needs 42 all-purpose yards to teach 1,000 for the season. The fastest any Aggie has ever reached 1,000 is six games by Leeland McElroy in 1995. With 958 yards, Kirk leads the SEC in total all-purpose yardage and ranks No. 3 in FBS.

Against Power 5 opponents, Texas A&M’s defense has been stingy in fourth quarters in 2015. Versus ASU, ARK and MSU, the defense has given up just 258 total yards (3.8 yards/play) and 17 points in the final stanza.

With three 100-yard receiving games in five games in 2015, true freshman WR Christian Kirk has already matched the Texas A&M freshman record for season 100-yard games set originally by Uzoma Nwachukwu in 2009 and matched by Mike Evans in 2012.

i say it every time. a&m and bama need to get a trophy going. the winner gets a statue of gene stallings jumping into the bears arms from the 1967 cotton bowl. the loser gets a bust of fran that they have to carry with them to the rest of their games

trust me. that would be the most intense trophy game ever. if only because losing the game results in receiving the worst thing any college football program could ever receive

Not sure what to think of this game. May be like last year, may be like three years ago. No idea.

Haven't watched the Aggies play yet this yr. How quickly does the QB get rid of the ball? If he's quick strike, I could see some success against the LB's, and limited success with the WR's. If it's slower to come out, I think Bama's D can influence his play with batted passes and pressure. Should be an interesting game.

No idea which O-line will show up for Bama Saturday. May also make for an interesting day.

Will be an interesting game. Bama runs well and defends the run well, but struggles on both passing and defending the pass. A&M passes well and defends the pass well, but has difficulty establishing the run or stopping power running teams.

Overall talent - adv Bama
Coaching - adv Bama but not by much
Special teams - adv A&M
Kyle Field - adv A&M

Really have no idea what to expect other than it being closer than last year.

A key matchup will be A&M pass protection vs Bama's D-line. With time, Kyle Allen can carve up their secondary. However, he isn't great under pressure. If Bama gets to him early and our offense stalls, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kyler come in and try to get things going.

Only thing for sure about this game is that which ever team loses will blame their OC

Lol obviously Saban >>> Sumlin, not disputing that.

But Kiffin and Spav are both wild cards that could overthink the play calling and lose the game. Chief and Smart are both proven DC's. Smart has the better players and better defense.

As far as in game adjustments, I don't see a huge advantage to Bama, especially when facing spread offenses. Both teams will come ready to play. A&M better coming off a bye.

How is this ranking decided? Does a player need to have a certain percentage from each type of yardage to count? I am just asking because I assume rushing is a part of the all-purpose yards and Fournette has gone over 1,000 yards rushing. I'm just curious.

This is the game I've been looking forward to for months. Allen will be able to test our secondary more than any other team on our schedule. That's the key matchup in this game. The other will be Aggies ability to stop our run game.

And whoever down voted WestCoastAg's trophy idea, deserves to be beaten. That's the greatest trophy idea I've heard in years.

those trophies would be all about the losing one.

The "hot potato" trophy, so to speak. Nobody wants to end up with it.

So much interesting comingling between Alabama and Texas A&M. It's taking on a unique kind of rivalry. Looking forward to a great game.

Bama has the #2 pass defense in the SEC in yards per game given up. They lead the SEC in YPC at 5.08.

The only pass-first opponent Bama has faced put up 43 points and got the win. Obviously turn-overs were a big part of that, but it's still a relative weakness compared to the running defense.

I'm not saying Bama has a bad pass defense. Just pointing out that both teams offensive strengths are the other team's defensive weaknesses.
