will have to wait and see what Virgina Tech does tonight. if they win 300-0 then I would think VT gets a lot of votes for #1.

I think USC will remain #1 in the AP poll.

Should we? Yes. Will we? 50/50. I am not sure if you are aware, but there are a lot of people who want USC to win this year and are not too fond of the SEC.

Doesn't matter to me. As long as Alabama plays the way they are capable of playing, we'll be in a good spot when the rankings actually matter.

Bama stays at #2. Coaches poll- You have to lose to move. AP swallows for USC. Their lead may widen because everybody else hates the SEC.

Yes, when a team is the #2 team in the country and they destroy the #8 team (deserved or not), while the rest of the top 10 play cupcakes, then yes that is how this should work. Now I could not care less if they move Bama ahead of USC or not. If Bama takes care of business for the next three months they will be in the top 2, it really does not matter in early September.
I will promise you the gap between Bama and LSU will be a little larger when the polls come out.

AP Sportswriters bias, notably the west coasters.
Main reason why the AP should not carry weight when deciding who plays for the NC.

Sitting at #1 is fun, but I'd rather lurk behind USC. Alabama has actually spent more time as #1 in 2008 and 2010, when they didn't win titles, than in 2009 and 2011 when they did.

So, LSU will still be #1, but by a wider margin?
I love how people put stock in the polls that are more favorable to their team, even when that poll means NOTHING in the BCS.

Nobody is taking #1 from USC, in the AP at least,until USC loses.
