I keep hearing rumblings about a battle for the starting job at Bama. Really?
In my opinion, if Hurts wasn't the starting qb last season NO WAY Bama is playing for the title......let alone beat LSU.

Hurts will really have to suck through the spring and summer to lose his job.

I doubt it, but I didn't think Hurts would be the QB last year, so who knows.

It sounds like Tua is very good and Hurts is playing well too. So, who knows, but I think Hurts would probably need to appear to have hit a dead end in development to not be the QB next season. So far it certainly doesn't sound like that is the case.

That 1 touchdown run sealed LSU's fate.

No.

Tua will get some snaps, hopefully, but unless Hurts completely shits the bed, or gets injured, he will be developed as a competent backup. Hell, he may even be redshirted and Mac Jones might get the backup reps (barring injury)

I think the only way he's out his job is if he gets in trouble or some in that caliber

I thought the hold that sealed the gap did that...

Tua being there to push for the job is good for Jalen. He is responding well from what I hear.

Probably classic case of the the backup QB being the most popular guy. In this case the backup happens to be the number 1 rated dual threat QB and 5 star recruit so that kind of talk is going to be even more prevalent. Still Tua and the other scholly QB Mac Jones are true freshmen so it would be surprising to see either of them win the job.

Hurts didn't exactly light it up against LSU. Who is to say another QB wouldn't have led to more than 10 points? Still I think it is fair to say that Hurts was Alabama's best option last year and probably is this year. However, there are two QBs on the roster this year that weren't there last year so if he is in fact in a battle this year it really has little to do with last year.

Hopefully it's not true . Bama would have a better chance to win another national championship if they had a pro style QB.

Hurts is having a good spring from all accounts. Tua is impressive but this is Hurts team unless he hits a wall and tanks. Heck, Mac Jones is reportedly looking stout...maybe our secondary sucks ??

Alabama won in spite of Hurts. That was Lane Kiffin's best coaching job of his career imo

LSU's "fate" was sealed at the kickoff, and one first down in the second half pretty much told the tale.

Oh... I forgot, LSU had 7 NFL first round draft picks, lock, on that team, and a sure fire Heisman winner, and 18 returning starters all of whom were all 5-star recruits and the OL was the best in the NCAA, and Brandon Harris was going to dominate the SEC, and what's his name was the best ILB in the country, and Travante Valentine was going to be starting NFL quality NG, etc. Yeah... right...
