That program will never go away. Might not be the unbeatable powerhouse they appeared to be circa 2011-2013 but they'll always be in contention for titles, unfortunately.

Oh I believe it. There's even this one guy, in Farragut,TN, who was a Tennessee fan until 2001, then he became an LSU fan, then a UF fan, and is currently a Bama fan. He also likes Kentucky basketball and the New England Patriots.

Kill him with fire. These are the worst kind of people

In middle Tn the switch from Orange to Crimson over the past 7-10 years was incredible. I have never seen anything like it. There is Bama shite everywhere.

In a border city like Chattanooga we have a shitload of 'three-hatters'. They have a UT, UGA, and Bama hat in the closet. They wear whoever won the last game.

I live in Ft. Smith on the border of Oklahoma. You would not believe the bandwagon OU fans that come here to work. You can recognize them by their OU bumper sticker, OU sticker covering the back glass of their truck. OU jacket. OU shirt. OU hat. OU lunchbox. OU tattoos.

ETA: Forgot one - Upside down longhorn logo tattoos. Can't beat that.

Alabama will be able to make a homerun hire. Will they? Even a competent hire will compete with what he inherits.

Jimbo Fisher. FSU can't pay him like Bama can. He has the ego to follow a legend, already has.

Either one of two things will happen:

1) We've seen what it takes to get to the top and we shell out to hire the next big coach. Now we know that tradition gets us nowhere and we have to work at staying on top. Saban has made Alabama a very popular brand in sports. It won't go away overnight once he leaves.

2) The good ol boys that hired Dubose, Stallings, etc. return. On Day 1, Saban kicked a lot them to the curb and restricted their access to the program. That element returns and we hire a Head Coach who is either a puppet or can't handle life in the fishbowl.

It'll be tough to maintain what Saban has done but Alabama won before Saban and we'll win after he leaves. Like everything, the timing of when it happens will probably determine the outcome. I don't see us returning to Shula caliber of football.

what will be the fate of Bama?

Anyone who grew up in Alabama following sports knows the answer to the OP: the REC will leave nothing to fate. They will pick up and keep rolling. We joke about the REC, but believe me, it's very real.
