Saban saw how an aggressive offense that can't kill clock can and will lose championships (see both the national title game and the Super Bowl). I just hate that it took losing a title for him to realize his error in judgment. Now we are stuck with 2 young spread style QB's and all of our older QBs who could have played the pro style are gone. Hurts better learn how to throw basic downfield passes or Tua will get his shot. The Hurts/Kiffin offense added nothing to Bama. All Hurts could do was run the ball and steal carries away from HB's who could run it just as well. He made NFL caliber WR's and TE's irrelevant.

I'm 100% confident Blake Barnett would have been the starter next season if he had stayed, but I don't blame him for leaving at all. Hell he might have started the title game if he had stayed after Hurts' abysmal performance against Washington.

I'm glad to see Kiffin and Sark gone, but it may take 2 years to get this offense back to where it used to be.

Yea, sucks to be "stuck" with Hurts and Tua.

Bama defense will carry it until offense gets back into shape. At the end of the day, not a bad place to be

I'm down. Give me David Cutcliff. Dude can develop quarterbacks and has done well at Duke.

I have been critical of Saban's move to a spread. Gumps say it is because I am an AU fan, but he lost the title this year because he tried to run the spread.

Our offense this year (especially when it mattered) looked nothing like our offense last year. Our offense was downright awful since the LSU game and not only struggled to score but put our defense in bad positions.

I know ... but both were from the same coordinator.

I get that you have to change with the times, but why on earth make that change with a true freshman QB? For some reason Saban let Kiffin convince him that everything we did to win 4 titles was no longer going to win anymore.

I think it had more to do with the interior OL personally. Look at what we did in the latter half of the season with Scarborough

This is a bad thread, Monticello. Go take a nap. Most of what you said is shite.

Dude, our other QBs were lame ducks. Barnett looked like a baby in a gorilla cage when he got reps. Hurts gave us the best chance to win. Are you really so conceited that you think that you know better than the coaches that actually watch these guys take rep after rep after rep?

It really does. One is a sophomore who can't pass the damn ball and the other is a true freshman who struggled with accuracy during all star week. I hope Mac Jones works out.

No we won't disagree. Give me the old offense from 2012. It works fine for Auburn and Oregon but I like ball control and running clock.

Sometimes, deep in mind, I can't wait to be Shula era shitty again just to laugh at some of you guys.
