Any of you know much about this guy? He transfered in and had to sit out this year. Grierioids has to sit out half of next year and Treon just ain't got it, God bless him. It's not his fault he's our starter so I support him, but he hit his ceiling in High School IMO.

That brings us to Del Rio. Looks like he walked on at Bama due to Nuss. Nuss left, then he left to OSU, Mike Riley who also recruited him left that year. So he came to UF.

Not sure if he has enough upside to compete for the job next year so any insight would be appreciate. TIA.

He's going to be a cross between Brady and Aikman but better.

That should answer your question.

He supposedly left because Lane came in and Del Rio didn't like him.

He had plenty of scholarship offers other places but wanted to play at Alabama. When your dad is a millionaire you don't really have to worry about getting a scholarship.

He was the message board backup QB favorite of the redneck portion of the fanbase for about 6 months or so.

Probably just another no-talent Bama discard, like Phillip Ely !

He hould be an ok stopgap QB till Will returns. If I remember correctly he had scholly offer to Okie Lite so the kid can play a little. If rather have him than Treon at any rate.

Hell, there's probably some former HS phenom on this site that would be better than Treon at this point.

I'm glad Ely is having a nice season, but I watched him in spring games and practices and read reports on him. He is not a SEC starter at QB.

Given the state of QB play in the SEC this year, Del Rio would probably fit in nicely. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement, but the reality.

Yea, I'm sure he could be a caretaker and make play action roll out throws on slants. And he probably would be better than Treon.

He left because he was hopelessly buried on the depth chart.

Saban had good things to say about him at Alabama ... and Saban doesn't just spread feel-good compliments around liberally. Here is an article about his departure from Alabama. Saban said he was third behind McCarron and Sims at the time.

Unless he's improved a lot he's not an SEC QB. Now compared to what I've seen this season.......
Arm-average
Size-average
Speed- not good
decision making-bad
presence on field-bad

Again, he may have improved but he and Ely were not good qb's for us.

Thanks again folks for the info.Just trying to get a feel for where we will be at the QB position next year. Doesn't look great but hey I didn't expect much this year either and we've defied the odds to be where we are.

He was, but Coker's transfer was on the radar, and then Cornwell came in. He knew the scholly wasn't coming.

I really liked Del Rio, he seemed to really step it up in the spring games, think he is a gamer, hated to see him go and wish him luck

It's impossible to play worse than Treon right now, so I'm sure he will be adequate until Grier gets back. Franks will be in the discussion as well, if he signs with UF.
