I'm pulling for Coker, the kid is smart - he's put in the work and he's made improvements in many area's. He will get the nod to start the season and deservedly so.

We could put the love child of Freddie Kitchens and JP Wilson out there and he'd be better than any bum LSU puts on the field.

They raved on forever that Bama would never start a black QB.

I'm pretty sure I cited Andrew Zow about a dozen times last year too.

Oh, and (belated) 20,000.

He's further along than Sims was this time last year.

a good many bama fans are hoping one of the freshmen wins out so we can have the same qb there for 2-3 years straight ... coker seems to have improved a good bit, tho ... we'll see ...

Other than 2008 when we relied heavily on the run, I have been surprised almost every year at the lengths Saban will go to ensure balance.

I consider play-action-passes to be "relying on the run". So, he's not entirely wrong.

I want the best guy to play now. I don't want to sandbag for 2016/2017

That's dumb as shite

Long time no see!

Regarding "trashing" Blake Sims, we were damned either way with the auburn fans on that one. If we said he was going to be a good QB, we were gump homers. If we tried to be objective and said he didn't look very good, we were racists who trashed our own player.

Thank God I don't let auburn fans dictate my perspective - I never was very good at Twister.

From what I've seen, Coker's biggest drawback right now is his delivery speed.

I don't care how quickly he makes a decision, it still seems like I could go get a beer from the fridge during the time he decides to throw the ball and the ball leaving his hand. Watching both Simms and Coker throw that hitch/bubble screen was like watching two different plays.

If spring game was any indication he was way ahead of where both he and Blake were same time last year. Elite? I won;t go that far but based on past history of our QBs and how prepared they are for season, if he wins job, he will be "a" top SEC QB.

He looked better than I thought when I watched him play. Outside of his sloppy footwork, horrendous pocket presence, terrible accuracy, constantly staring down of his primary reads, inability to read defenses and spotty decision making, Coker looked pretty good. I do feel like my criticisms of Bama's QB play are getting a little soft. Maybe I'll start to become more critical after he plays in a regular season game.

That's what I would want. I don't miss the uncertainty Auburn had at QB going into the fall for several years.

I have missed your incompetent and off-the-mark analysis, Bench. You really should change your name as McElroy is now one of the best color analysts on television.

Count me in that camp.

If Coker's clearly the best, put him on the field but if they're equal or even just really close I would prefer to see building for the future.
