Your fan base and I'm sure other fanbases expected Coker to take over the starting job last year. How was his performance over the spring and do you guys think he'll be an elite QB in the SEC/nation this year?

Guess we can't have an actual discussion on the board. Someone give me a flame idea, that provides better responses

He looked better this spring than last fall. He still needs to get quicker on his decision making and release, but he is starting to look more comfortable and the arm and athleticism are definitely there.

No. I don't think he has that kind of talent. It's still possible than David Cornwell beats him out too.

I'm cautiously optimistic that Coker (or whoever starts) will look like an above average college QB in Alabama's system and with Kiffin's coaching though.

He's already got one pre-season Heisman in the trophy case but it doesn't seem like he is showing enough hustle to get that second one. Will undoubtedly be a pre-combine top 10 pick after this season.

If only we could have signed him out of high school he could have won the pre-enrollment Heisman like Shea Patterson

Didn't you know you have to ask an Aub about anything related to Alabama?

Word out of spring camp is that he's looked more comfortable and has a better understanding than last Fall. Hopefully he'll be working with the WR's in the off-season to get timing and accuracy down.

Nope, and I ok with that. As long as he doesn't screw up and become a liabilty, I'm fine with him being a manager.

he looks to have a lot better control of the offense and reportedly has developed chemistry with his teammates; something he didn't have last year.

im optimistic, but not completely convinced

Did he not get that before his freshman year at FSU? I Googled and got nothing.

What's the knock on him? Not knowing the offense last year?

He didn't go through spring last year and did not appear to learn the offense fast enough in preseason practice. Sims had a big head start and played well. It was not unreasonable for him not to be ready last season, although a lot of people expected him to be.

Basically we really don't know. When he played last year his decision making looked a couple of ticks too slow. That SHOULD improve with time in the system, but it might not. He has enough physical skills to be a good QB for Bama.

Showed some promise this spring but needs to get better before the season. I think he will be an average QB if he wins the job...which means Bama should be in the hunt again. We specialize in winning big with mediocre QBs. ??

Alabama relies on defense, strong running game and a QB that manages the game and knows the offense. Coker has been slow to learn the offense. My guess is that he will not be the starting QB vs Auburn.

Going up against the best D in the nation every day helps. Be above average QB through out the year And at least will win the west.
