The game played out about like A&M thought it would except more scoring.

But Bad A&M D predicted was terrible instead.

Very Good A&M O was even better than we thought.

Question is in the title. Does Bama have a great D and A&M's O is just that good or do you see trouble on D side?

I think your OL came together just fine. Hard to tell vs. a&M but certainly a dominating performance by your OL and Yeldon.

It's the D for sure. You have nothing to worry about.

Both.

A&M's offense is great but Bama's Corners are not.

The real question should be did Bama's Oline sudden get fixed or is A&M's front 7 that bad?

I'm hoping to get through this to the actual football people. It happens about 1 out of 8 threads. I try.

Bama's Defense hasn't had time to gel and some players just need some game time experience and A&M's offense is just that good, "Mixed in with a little luck."

I think it was a poor gameplan by Saban on D. We put zero pressure on the qb giving him time for a wr to get open. You can't expect a db to cover that long. The dline was told to stay in their lanes and clog the line. The lb's were not fast enough to catch JM.

Sumlin is a great coach, but this is not his Houston pass happy offense.

If you watch A&M this year you will see the Johnny football show every week. I'm a little worried about or CB's but Johnny can make em look like that all day long. Johnny is a beast and so is that damn WR. Oh and they have one of the better OL's in college football as well.

We will have problems with any team who has a freak QB who can keep a play alive for 10 seconds running around like a chicken with his head chopped off while a huge physical beast of a man runs deep and out jumps us in coverage to the beat of 279 yards.

Now we just have to look at our schedule and see who left has both of those elements. Yup no one, we will be okay.

Very good points - it seems yall wont play that style on the DLine again all year - cutting the time for your Dbs to hold coverage. Makes sense.

This. It's not like A&M had receivers running wild and no one within 5 yards of them. Bama actually had pretty good coverage for the most part but there is only so much that can be done when the QB can buy that much time and the DB is giving up 5 inches and 25 lbs to the WR who can also run. A&M had busted coverages all day long on our side that McCarron took advantage of but Manziel was generally having to beat good coverage.

If just about any other team tries the sideline passes that Manziel was throwing to Evans they are going to end up with a lot of picks.

A little of both. A lot of it was just match up problems. I think we'll be much better at rushing the QB this year than last year, but we couldn't use that. We didn't want manziel running free. But, our CB's aren't as good without Milliner, and we couldn't match up with Evans. So, man coverage, with the safeties playing run, and no pass rush were a bad combination.

Did you not watch the game? Make your own damn determination, which I suspect you already have.

I'm thinking it's the latter.

I don't know enough about your DBs to make my own determination. That is why I was wondering what yall thought. It seems to be pretty even with yall.

I do find it interesting that the hold your gap and keep JFF from scrambling had no success. There was a pretty good thread before the game about the nuances of these strategies.

But I always appreciate Bama fans opinion, the ones that actually give one.

I guess Saban just picked his Poison and stuck with it and hell won the game.

I've been telling people for a while A&M has the potential to average 50 PPG this year. 42 might very well be our lowest point total of the year.

Bama's corners are a little down this year, but that defense will still finish in the top 10 in every category except maybe pass defense. Outside of LSU we'll score pretty much at will on everyone.

My non-homer answer is A&M's O is that good...I think they could possibly have an issue at CB, but no one else IMO will do to Bama what A&M did...except maybe LSU...they have some pretty physical receivers.
