Kind of appears to be that, but I remember when they were down to their 4th string rb, a little white boy, and beat a pretty good Alabama team in Franchione's last game. From all accounts, though, Franchione didn't much plan for that game since he'd already dropped the rope and was going to A&M. I do remember thinking how odd it was for him to buddy up with Tuberville at midfield at the end of the game.

No he doesnt and that along with his "personality" are my biggest worries with him. His accuracy is very suspect.

You can hide some of that stuff if he becomes a threat in running the ball. Will have to see how worried he makes the defense this year in the scrambling department.

Not sure why you would think he is tiny...he appears to be a similar size to Cox.

I mostly worry about the fact that we need a JC QB to bail us out of the mess JJ being viewed as the future got us into.

He can't be more than 180 pounds soaking wet. Even if cox was that light, he was a pocket passer that wasn't asked to make plays with his legs. Franklin is going to be hit by safeties and linebackers running downhill early and often. And please don't bring up Marshall. Marshall had a much more compact frame than Franklin. I'm going to be surprised if he makes it through the year unscathed if he's asked to do the things that Nick Marshall did. For what it's worth I do think he's a more dangerous runner than Marshall. Franklin can fly

To be clear I am comparing him to Chandler Cox who is lining up in the backfield next to him in that video clip.

His size isn't that big of an issue. Heck, Cam got hurt against Oregon and he is the size of a DE. The art of not taking a hit will be key to JFIII if he can be successful. As stated...many, many times...his arm is more of concern than his ability to run the ball at this level.

I'm kind of surprised that malzhan has had this much trouble with the offense without a running QB. Didn't he run more of an air raid at Tulsa or am I off on that? It just seems to me that without a good solid runner at that position his offense at least at auburn has been DOA. It'll be interesting to see what happens this year, but the loss of Robinson is a huge blow.

I am not celebrating the loss of his talent, but the single easiest position in football to replace is the running back. This team will sink or swim with QB play.

I truly believe Gus's "system" needs it. I dont compare what he did at Tulsa or back in high school. Its just not a fair comparison to the competition he is playing agains now. His offense if a run first offense, play action off that. It is all it ever has been

He either needs a running QB or a stud running back to make it work. He can adjust whether he has to do it with a QB or running back but I still do not believe he can coach a passing first offense against our schedule. I just dont believe it.

When he has what he needs, it works very well. Without it, it does not

lets be real honest here. he might look like David Palmer but if he had 1/10th the talent of that drunken little phenom he would have never left Tallahassee.

So was JFF, and no one could get a square hit on him.

I've seen what Gus can do with Marshall. Auburns offense is gonna be dangerous by late October, possibly sooner.

I loved the deuce, but I'm pretty sure he didn't see 325 lb. defensive lineman running under 5.0 40s. I doubt LBs were 265, running 4.5 40s. And I'm pretty sure DBs weren't also track stars.

Palmer couldn't do what he did in college (and HS) in the pros. He just wasn't made that way. Neither is this kid.

Manziel is the size of hummingbird and can't throw for shite. He did okay just based on his running ability (and Mike Evans). Just saying...

JF3 was a D1 sprinter and has a lot of top-end straight line speed. Marshall was quick, but he was also agile and elusive. I'll take that any day over sprinter speed.
