Auburn's baseball collapse is like MSU's 2000 football collapse

Auburn baseball went 5-1 against Florida and MSU, the two leaders in the SEC. But since taking 2 of 3 at MSU and being in first place and #5 in the nation, they were swept by Bama and they are en route to being swept by LSU. The RPI has dropped to the 40s. Auburn should make a regional, but damn.
In 2000, Mississippi State football beat the brakes off Florida and shut down Rudi Johnson and Auburn to move to the top ten. State had two chances to clinch a spot in the SEC championship game - missing a chip shot FG and eventually losing in OT to Arkansas and then laying an egg against Ole Miss.
That MSU team is the only team in SEC history to beat both participants in the SEC Championship game.

MSU could still beat a decent team. At this point Auburn might be the worst team in the league.

And hired a d-line coach as his replacement after spending months talking about Herman.

Auburn's collapse is worse. They lost 8-2 in a midweek game at UAB. Bama entered last weekend with the worst winning percentage in SEC history.
With their weekend rotation, this shouldn't be happening.

It seems like Bama broke them. Hell, we are 2 games and 6 innings through this series and Auburn has 1 earned run (3 total). LSU's pitching is very good, but they aren't that good.

Not going to argue the main point of the OP, but this guy

Except football really matters and baseball is just baseball.

And it's that mentality by Auburn fans that keeps the program from being able to recruit quality players. Keep it up please. Post more.

Auburn just dropped another fly ball.

I seriously doubt baseball recruits will decide where they attend college based on how I feel about baseball.
