He had talented hands but too slow and a mediocre route runner. Definitely not "all the talent in the world".

Yet when you were puffing out your chests claiming why Auburn was making a run for the NC, Duke was a reason why.

The combo of Jeremy Johnson and Duke Williams will rustle ALL the jimmies

Was a completely stupid decision to not go pro after last season. I was 100% shocked when he returned.

Yep. Why is this shite stickied?

Get your laughs in now, Rant. AU going balls deep on the SEC the following year after a dumpster fire, as is tradition. Continue to prognosticate on the enigma of Auburn football, and watch our old chaotic god-child (Dye) spin new fates for the following years. 15-0, 7-6, 3-9, 15-0, 7-6, 3-9, 15-0...what has happened before will happen again. It is written in the sacred family creed.

So when is the meeting at Toomer's to drink the Jim Jones cyanide lemonade?

Is this a joke? It's an LSU site. Duke is from BR and was going to go to LSU but went to AU instead. We had another 5 star receiver that went to LSU and came to AU only to fail(Benton). Also, Duke was supposed to be a significant contributor to AU this fall and hasn't lived up to expectations.

I'm sad to hear this. I had hoped he would get his shite together. It's sad to see a guy with unlimited talent become just another cautionary tale. I thought he was the most dominant and physically talented HS receiver I ever saw in Louisiana. When he was recruited, there was a reason why we weren't too alarmed that he signed elsewhere and why we cheerfully wished him adieu. Everybody was pulling for him even though he went to Auburn, which is a very rare thing around here. It was a kind of like-I hope he succeeds, but not on our dime kind of attitude from out of our program. Once again, despite the best efforts of good people around him, and great support,we learn the lesson that character is destiny.

99% of AU fans in here are acknowledging that Duke has all the talent needed to be a star. But, he very obviously has discipline/respect/entitlement issues, and hasn't played an especially important role for AU this season (not all his fault).

Anyway, the point is that Auburn isn't very good right now, and he's not helping. By most accounts, he's making things worse. So us saying we don't care that he's gone doesn't equate to us saying that this wouldn't, under difference circumstances, be a huge loss. But in reality, it isn't.

Well I'm sure the NCAA couldn't ignore a kid that doesn't work having, lets say, deposits of 20k or more and the kid saying hey I got this from such and such who is a booster. Isn't that what happened in the SMU case?

that is some ATPB stuff right there... You have no proof, nothing, so you put this out. Dang, we are not afraid to kick a guy off the team. Enough said.

Yes. His departure now only helps us IMO.

i'm always curious about these type of comments- and there's been more than one that said they hate to see the talent wasted.

if someone without talent screws up- it's then ok? that's probably not what is meant but that's sure how it sounds.

It just means that it's hard to watch a guy squander opportunity when he has been blessed in some appreciable way. But if you want to argue about something this morning, I say knock yourself out.

You don't think a preseason all conference player being dismissed from a team that has already generated 15 pages of responses deserves a sticky? Why, because you don't like the news?
