It's laughable that some use previous year outcomes only when convenient to their argument.
It's also the reason why you didn't make the game in '04. In 2003, you were preseason ranked #6 and tanked. You finished the season 8-5. This hurt you in the eyes of the pollsters going into 2004. Had you actually finished 2003 like you were supposed to, who's to say you wouldn't have been preseason #2 behind USC in '04?

Which is precisely why preseason rankings are a joke. AU lost Bobby P at offensive coordinator, replaced him with someone that shouldn't have been there, then replaced him with Borges (who utilized the talent on the roster).

BOOOOOO!!
Claim them all! We want 1913, 1914, 1957, 1958, 1983, 1993, 2004, 2010, and 2013!!
9 National Championships for Aubrn Football!!
for anybody wondering "why 2013?" It's because Jameis Winston should have been in jail or ineligible at least for the title game. Without him not only does FSU not have the final drive to win with 17 seconds, but AU blows out FSU. Even with him we were 17 seconds, a taller CB, or a competent S away from the title.
AU was the team of destiny in 2013 and the Tallahassee PD robbed AUB of our destiny like Jaboo on a crab leg. CLAIM IT!!

True or not, the fact that it's possible shows just how laughable the whole thing is.

Let me guess, you're one of those Auburn fans who claim 1993 as an SEC title.

Just a disclaimer: I like Auburn. Used to wear their jerseys as a lad. I just talk shite because it's the Internet, right? I don't think they would have beaten SC, however. That team was clicking on all cylinders that night. AU was strong, though..

They already pulled an Ole Miss x2.

Nah, but it sure was fun beating Florida... and everyone else on the schedule.

I seem to remember LSU winning the West in 2001. And Arkansas winning the West by default in 2002.

Apparently Auburn thinks differently.

You do realize how many top-25 teams AU beat that year, correct?

Silly, country-bred auNecks and their magical '04 championship season.
It was a special time for them, replete with actual tractor hay-rides for the team down what they call a "main street", NC rings, a NC trophy, etc... all bestowed upon them by their athletic department. I have pix of all of this if anyone wishes to view them or doesn't really believe something like that could happen.
And what did they base this NC on? Answer = an online poll created by a 13 year old Opelikan boy who shut down voting when USC fans caught wind of it and started to overtake the local Opelika area votes. Sad indeed.
Let's look at that magical 'O4 season.
They didn't have that impressive of a season, that is why the voters and the computers did not give them a shot at the NC. Notice that Hawaii didn't get a shot this year either, even though many thought they had an impressive year.
2004-auNecks (SEC)
9/4 vs. Louisiana Monroe (5-6) W 31-0
9/11 @ *Mississippi State (3-8) W 43-14
9/18 vs. *Louisiana State (9-3) W 10-9
9/25 vs. Citadel (non-IA) W 33-3
10/2 @ *Tennessee (10-3) W 34-10
10/9 vs. Louisiana Tech (6-6) W 52-7
10/16 vs. *Arkansas (5-6) W 38-20
10/23 vs. *Kentucky (2-9) W 42-10
10/30 @ *Mississippi (4-7) W 35-14
11/13 vs. *Georgia (10-2) W 24-6
11/20 @ *Alabama (6-6) W 21-13
12/4 vs. *Tennessee (10-3) W 38-28
They played 6 teams with losing seasons,
one Double A team,
a 3-8 Ms. State, a 2-9 Kentucky, a 4-7 Mississippi, a 5-6 Arkansas,
2 teams with break even seasons,
played one good team twice, and finally,
they scheduled Louisiana Tech, Louisiana Monroe, & Citadel all in the same season,
bugging my eyes out at this last one:
LT, LM, and Citadel all in the same season, damn.
Impressive season? I don't think so, and not many voters, computers, tea leaves, sorcerers, etc... did either.
Check out the hay, holy shite!

What caused you affliction for all things AU? It's just odd, considering you had a hard on for AU prior to Muschamp.
