AUBURN, Alabama — Auburn will soon offer full refunds for season-ticket holders if they wish to return their men's basketball tickets to the athletics department. An official announcement is expected today, according to the Auburn ticket office. The news comes in the wake of associate head coach Chuck Person's arrest Tuesday on federal charges of bribery and corruption as a result of a of a joint investigation by the FBI and U.S. Attorney's office into the criminal influence of money on NCAA coaches and student-athletes. Auburn announced Monday it had sold out season tickets for a fourth straight season under coach Bruce Pearl. The assistant coach, who Auburn suspended shortly after being arrested, was ordered to appear in the Southern New York district court on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. to answer to the pending charges after waiving a preliminary hearing. The assistant coach’s initial court appearance came before Judge Wallace Capel, Jr.

It's probably the right thing to do. Surprised they are doing it though.

downplay what? The fans will not be getting what they paid for. We all know our two best players are done.

This has to mean they are cleaning house right? You don't refund season tickets just because a few players are suspended/ineligible.
Are they going to cancel their season? I can't think of what action would warrant refunding ticket sales.

Isn't it obvious. We are shutting down the basketball program and putting all of those resources towards the equestrian and bass fishing programs.

The AD is trying to gather as much good will from boosters as he can.

I mean, I doubt they would cancel a season. But if they did, might as well make the refunds optional. No need to force people to take money if they want the athletic department to just keep it.
Then again, the actual ticket prices are fairly insignificant I suppose. Donations for priority are where most of that revenue comes from.

Pretty bad when Ole Miss fans are calling your program a mess.
And speaking of cancelling seasons...I wonder if any programs will self impose a death penalty through all this. It's happened before. Louisville should consider it if you ask me.

Cleaning house? Might as well take the death penalty. If I were an Auburn fan, I would be thrilled. Just put more money into football.

In Louisvilles case, they might as well. When the FBI is done they will have to forfeit all the games anyway, most of the roster will be ineligible.
