Auburn softball coach Clint Myers announces his retirement. What a run: 205-54-1 and two College World Series berths.

Huge news in the softball world, although his team had a little wackiness to it due to some internal issues. Great coach.

Auburn will hire from outside of the program. His son screwing around with a player and getting fired is really biting Auburn in the arse. Still, stacked roster and a proven ability to win should make hiring a proven coach easy for Jacobs.

So maybe now the Auburn board will stop pretending to care about softball.

All of a sudden softball is a sport I no longer care about and others that do are lame...

Looks like Alabama has a chance to become the premier program in the state again.

This is the part where we say, "who cares? It's softball."

GDit. Auburn can't have anything nice. Ever.

Is that what is keeping you away?

If so, I will make sure to start a softball thread daily.

Like someone else said, it was fun while it lasted.

Thanks for everything, Coach Myers!

Big news.

Myers had AU primed to own the state in softball for the next several years.
