Greenberg’s letter alleges that on March 30, 2017, “several players approached Head Coach Myers with proof in the form of text messages from a student-athlete’s cell phone that Coach Corey was having an inappropriate relationship with one of the student-athletes.”

According to the letter and several players, the team was then “quarantined” for several hours prior to a trip to Georgia. Five players told ESPN that, at that meeting, Auburn executive associate athletic director Meredith Jenkins told the players they were risking arrest for taking the text messages from their teammate’s phone and ordered them to delete the messages.

Ummm, that's not good.

Yes, that's a crime.

While it is against University policy for a coach to have a sexual relationship with a consenting adult, it's not against the law.

Um that is not the full story. Player Jane Doe, had her phone taken/stolen from her hand. The other players then approached the Coach, who called in the AD. The players had in fact taken the phone records illegally. Jane Doe was upset.

Then the players did not want to go to UGA, if Jane Doe was allowed on the Bus.

Remember you are seeing one attorneys side to this. You have to examine the motive.

I'm not as worried about that, at least not from a legal standpoint.

Player Jane Doe

Will have to see said player to determine if it is a "Jane" or a "John".

Was this proven? Because I was told she left her phone unlocked and they took pictures of the texts.

That has to be illegal.

Regardless, that doesn't absolve the coach from having a relationship with a player. He won't face legal penalties, but he won't be getting another job in athletics.

Very true, but it's not anything on Auburn University....legal/NCAA wise.

Not true at all. Not over a relationship with a college athlete unless there was something more to that.

What parent would want their child playing on a team that he is working with?

Depending on the age of the coach and a player in question, it's not that big of a deal. They are consenting adults at that level.

My friend was an SEC head coach, had a relationship with a player and was caught. He resigned, they were married, and he was hired as a HC in the Big-10 the next season. He was under 30 and she was 21-22.

Yes, it's shady, but not necessarily a nail in your coffin. It happens a lot more than people realize.

That kind of seems like a form of blackmail.

ETA found it
