Auburn football tickets sold out prior to home opener for 1st time in school history
Surely this isn't accurate, is it? I can remember lots of preseason excitement many times over the years.

Most seasons are sell outs but usually there are at least single game tickets available for games into the season.

It's because they love Auburn University, not just Auburn football. There are a lot of other ways to love the University than buy silly football tickets.

Is it really surprising? This article is saying every single seat (season, group, or single-game) was sold prior to the opener. When the schools reserve X number of tickets for single-game sale only, it's not surprising that some seats to play (directional state university OR FCS school) are not totally sold out a month or more in advance. How often has Alabama (or any other school) done this? I'm legitimately curious. It just doesn't seem like that surprising of a statistic, even with how fervent SEC fans are in general.

This is accurate.
Imagine how loud JHS will be with all of our games sold out. It was already louder and more intimidating than BDS with its sellout crowds. No enthusiasm in a fanbase that's 95% sidewalkers I guess - the roots just dont go as deep as The Family.

Something only a fanbase of sidewalkers would do. A true fan would never be bored with success.

Well, I don't suppose you'd know much about that seeing as how you people have had back to back 10 win seasons exactly once in your program's entire history.

Many, many times. I don't think that the schools regularly selling out offer single game tickets. Or they are very tightly limited.
My experience with Auburn tickets, is that, since season tickets don't sell well, they offer bundled 3 game mini-season ticket packages. (Full disclosure, I haven't tried to buy any seats from AU in four years, so things may be different now).

My college football ticket-buying experience is almost exclusively Vanderbilt, so I've never had problems. Nice and convenient, but frustrating in obvious regards. The few away games that I've tried to go to have also had tickets available, but, again, Vandy is not exactly a marquee matchup most years.

Laugh all you want ... They did a great job this year selling tickets this year, and EVERY SEC school should take note. I had an Auburn student call me as an Alum more than 3 times encouraging me to join Tiger Unlimited again (of which I had not participated in many years), and on his 3rd attempt I did buy seasons tickets again for the first time in 10 years. Without this student's salesmanship, I probably would have not. They did a great job! Congrats! Plain and simple marketing, if you are not the State U name like UGA, UF, UT, or Bama, you do have to make an effort. And they did!
Want to know if school is blueblood? They don't have telemarketers to sell session tickets, they have a waiting list.

I don't think Alabama sells single game tickets. This article says the waiting list was at 32,000 before the 2014 season. I've heard it's up to 36k.
Forbes
And I think we've sold out every game since 1988. I'm having trouble finding an exact date. But we sold out during the Shula years, if that tells you anything.

Al.com disagrees.
If you go to the Alabama football website, they also offer details for buying single-game tickets. In fact, I just checked and there are tickets available for the MTSU game this Saturday.
Selling out season tickets is much different than selling out ALL tickets. Schools always reserve a few thousand seats (mostly in the upper ducks) for group and single-game tickets. The Auburn article stated that all of those were sold out prior to the season opener.

Bama just sent out an email offering tickets to several games for $35 and they still have Arkansas tickets for sale for $85

Not sure aubies should laugh at Alabama when it comes to selling out stadiums
You guys are a shameful fair-weather fan base. So much for the family.

What could of possibly happened on November 10, 2012 that could have caused ticket sales to plummet?

They only want to see the new score board in person.
