I didn't watch too many Auburn games last year. What did he look like compared to Jeremy Johnson and is he expected to start vs Clemson?

He's their best passer, but not as mobile as Franklin or Johnson. In the few games I saw him play, he wasn't too effective.

wouldnt really matter, even if he starts he wont finish. he is kinda fragile and Gus has no idea how to put him in situations he can be successful in. at one point last season I considered that may Gus just hated the kid and was intentionally trying to get him killed.

Shorter, scrambles but is going to slide quick or get out of bounds. Might have been better had our receivers been able to catch a ball last year

He got his first start against State and was hot garbage. Sunbelt level talent. Maybe.

Damn, there isn't even a thread up on about it on the Auburn board yet. You must really keep up with AU football.

Played well until injured. Sucked in the Bham Bowl. Actually JJ played OK in that game. The rumor is JJ is starting, so that is why I believe the MaryJane Rumor comes from.

When he wasn't hurt, I thought he did just fine for a freshman thrown into the fire and playing behind a somewhat suspect offensive line.
Problem was, he didn't have many games in the "when he wasn't hurt" category.

I thought he did fairly well as a freshman making his first start. They were in that game most of the night as I recall. The red zone play calling did him no favors, but it really doesn't do any QBs not named Cam Newton any favors in Gus's offense.

Check out the Kentucky and Arkansas games...he looked good for a freshman. He was injured the rest of the season. Our receivers were horrible in both of those games, particularly Arkansas.

He completed over 70% of his passes.
White would be good in an air raid offense. He just didn't seem to fit in with what Gus was trying to do. Although I will say our WRs were absolutely atrocious last year and had a absurd number of drops.

He was 20 of 28 against Miss St in his first ever start. Not too bad. Only threw 10 passes against San Jose St the next week, then threw for 255, 254 and 258 in the next 3 games against Kentucky, Ark and Ole Miss on a bum knee. Probably would have thrown for 300+ against Ark if we hadn't dropped, I think, 7 passes that game.
