I didn't think he was in that much danger of getting fired but I've read a few articles recently painting a different picture. Is there any chance he's fired next year if he doesn't hit a certain number of wins?

TIA

I doubt Jay Jacobs would fire him if he has a winning season. Now, a 7 win season would light his seat aflame but I'm pretty sure he'd survive.

I'm sure other will disagree, but firing Gus turns up the scrutiny on Jacobs himself and he is going to avoid that at all costs

You are correct. Jacobs future is tied to Gus. Jacobs gave him the contract extension.

Too many factors to really say.

QB play...

Who we lose to and how we lose to them...

What does recruiting look like...

If we go 7-5, lose to our rivals or get blown out a couple of times and recruiting isn't going too well I could see Gus getting fired.

Not hot at all. If they get any QB play and Lindsey shows he is competent, fans will be happy. AU did go to the Sugar Bowl last year, so that bought him this year with the firing of Rhett. How hot is Bert's seat ?

It stays toasty from the sheer mass on it.

Gus will likely be canned before the season starts.

Honest answer, cold as ice. The program is extremely healthy in recruiting, discipline, and in cash flows. The only coach in the SEC that has won more is Saban, but everyone is fighting him. Saban harms LSU more than AU, so it is not all bad.

huh? I checked only 2 coaches. Mullen has won more games, and McElwain has a better winning pct. There may be more, but just those 2 show that to be b.s.

It's a lot of meh after Saban. But malzahn could improve his stock with a good 2017.

Yeah. These losers seem to gloss over what Gus has won.

I would guess another 8-5 season will have the natives restless. Gus needs to prove he can close a season out strong after their disasters at the end of promising 2014 and 2016 seasons

depends on the material and how hard he's been grinding on it.

Well the guy said Gus has won more than anybody not Saban. The winning total and winning pct I have already mentioned. As for titles, that also isn't so, but if he means active coaches (which he did not say), then it just so happens that only 3 other coaches have won a title since Saban has been at Alabama. Malzahn won one, Meyer is now at Ohio State, and LSU replaced Miles, the only other guy with more than 1 during that time, with Orgeron, so it's at best misleading to say Malzahn has won more than any other coach (save St. Nick) during Saban's tenure.
