Auburn doesn't get enough shite for how bad they over-hype people, specifically Jeremy Johnson. This may be ironic coming from an Ole Miss fan, because we do it too, but not to the laughable extent that Auburn does.
In the offseason Auburn only lets local journalists(fans) actually watch/ cover the practices, and because of how cultish that fanbase is in conjunction with the fanboy journalists being biased, you will never hear or see anything written other than Auburn approved gospel.
Jeremy Johnson not only wasn't a Hiesman candidate, he wasn't even just really bad. You could make the argument that he is one of the worst quarterbacks in SEC history.
Outside of Johnson, Auburn played well enough to beat Alabama. Open receivers all over the field, and the defense kept them in it until the very end, but ultimately they were chained by a quarterback who is so laughably incompetent that I doubt even a JUCO would want him.
