Despite all of the talk about Les and LSU right now, we still need to focus on our own teams as far as the rest of the season goes.

Auburn will not go to a huge bowl this season, as we were never expected to do so to begin with. We needed huge improvement on our defense in the off-season and there is no doubt Steele has done an amazing job thus far.

Our defense cost us 4 games last year while taking Jacksonville State to overtime and having to play Arkansas in 4 overtimes to beat us because our defense just let anyone into the endzone for mere shits and giggles.

Add to that barely beating Kentucky by 3 whole points and San Jose State owning us into the 4th quarter, and there is no doubt Steele has done an exceptional job a year later.

God, I miss those days when defenses actually controlled the game. It was all about being bigger, faster and smarter than the offense.

Looks like Auburn is finally going back to that.

Auburn's defense is solid. Your offense is an incredibly mismanaged trainwreck. Malzahn has turned upside down and inside out since 2013

The craziest shite of it all is AU is ranked in the top 30 in TOP on offense this year. With even remotely better play calling in the redzone and getting over a penchant for leaving points on the field ala the Clemson and LSU games (not taking points to go on 4th down) AU could be undefeated right now; 3-1 at worst.

That really is crazy. I know y'all have the weapons to score in the red zone, but Gus just calls mind-bogglingly bad plays down there.

QB's overthrowing the ball at times and Wide Receivers dropping perfect passes one play later just says it all.

There is a serious lack of trust on offense right now going into the fifth game of the season.

That is something that needs to be addressed by someone, or anyone, who directs our offense at this point in the season.

Who is really "leading" this Auburn offense right now?

"No One"...that is the the clear answer.

Someone needs to step up.

Mr. MoarKilometers,

I know you are going through a complete disaster right now as far as the whole LSU situation is concerned right now. But some teams are actually still focusing on the positives right now.

There is a reason why two of your main coaches were fired yesterday. That is on you, your University and its program right now. It is not on Auburn or our program. We certainly have our own struggles to deal with.

I would suggest you focus your attention to your own program right now and quit worrying about everyone else.

God knows you will need to in your very uncertain future in the next few years while you labor to rebuild your program.

That makes a pretty good epitaph for LSU's season, don't you think?

AU's defense is solid and legit. You guys have a real good one that should be the difference in a few more games and help give AU the win. Impressive.

Before the season I thought AU would go 5-7 or 6-6. With the defense being really good I think AU goes 7-5 or maybe even 8-4. If your offense gets a pulse I can definitely see AU going 9-3 this season.

UL-Monroe
Vandy
Alabama A&M...

will get us to 5

Miss State (@ Starkville)
Arkansas (Jordan-Hare)
Ole Miss (@ Oxford)...

...will be the determining factor.

UGA in Athens is always an anomaly, especially in their "rebuilding phases" throughout history.

Then the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa. Probably an Auburn loss.

I see this as a 7 win season for Auburn.

I can not possibly tell you anything about Malzahn right now UNTIL he gets through that Miss State, Arky and Ole Miss slate.

No one knows what will happen no matter how hard we try to figure these things out, though.

That is the beauty of Auburn football, however....or curse.

I can't seem to tell the difference any longer to be honest. We just go with it, lol.

MoarKilometers is my name and you actually think I'm an lsu fan? I'm not, but it is a damn shame my namesake is gone. I went to bama irl.

Not to burst your bubble but there are over 110 teams in the FBS who have a better offense than LSU. :/

I really don't care where you went...or didn't.

Either contribute to this discussion in a productive manner, or feel free to post elsewhere.

I am sure you can find more elementary posts and topics to express your particular views at the moment.

I see where you say you went to 'Bama. I highly doubt that.

I know it was two offenses struggling. But if u watched the gsme it was good ole fashion hard hitting football. Those defenses absolutely brought it last night

It was absolutely beautiful.

I never wanted to turn my head away from the T.V.

It was tortuous, but perfect, in every single way. It was how teams should play. Very emotional.

I still don't think Etling even knew where he was 3 minutes after that hit. He was gone for a while.

And White was completely lost in seeing purple and gold in his helmet time and time again. He was just "lost" play after play due to LSU's speed.

So much talent on the field on Saturday by both teams...yet so little production from the side-lines.

Sad, really. That game was all about the players, not the coaches. Those KIDS from both sides gave it their all.

You can't really ask for more than that in my opinion.

I think AU is better than UGA. If Gus can fix some red zone woes(almost all offenses get better at this in the second half of the season), I think AU beats Arky also.I am thinking 8-4. I think AU will lose to Ole Miss and Bama. Gus is right, they are pretty close. I know 8-4 is sub Auburn standard, but it is significant improvement moving forward.

The offense isn't good, but it's far from a train wreck. It'll likely finish middle of the pack in the sec this year.

I agree. We actually moved the ball well against LSU until the redzone. Sean White scored a B+/A-. I think he played extremely well. Few bad throws, but those happen, and no picks. Did have the one fumble though.

The game was fun to watch. We were at the Carolina/Pitt game, and dvr'd AU/LSU game and my son told me who won during the first half. So that took alot of nervousness out and I got to enjoy the game more.
