Yes because bama fans are too classy to do something like that...I mean, they would never wear "Roll Ducks Roll" or "Roll Tribe Roll" shirts when Auburn was playing in the BCSCG.

Pleased as can be! Somebody is doing something right when the UA System is in better academic and financial shape than it's EVER been in.

How do you feel about UAB? Are you a supporter of UAB football? Will you buy tickets and attend games on Fall Saturday's? Will you financially support the UAB program and pledge money to help them?

No

With that being said, show me where I A) pledged support for UAB B) attacked the UA Board of Trustees for their non support. IMHO, the way the president of UAB handled this was chickenshit, but I don't have a dog in the fight. I was responding to one of your compadre's dumb, blanket statements about Auburn people.

No harm - no foul.

I agree 100% about the way Watts handled this situation.

Excuse my compadre's actions in the wake of TigerinMiami's bullshite he's been spewing about the UA BOT in this thread.

What bullshite?

Are you saying you do not think the UAT BOT has undermined UAB football intentionally?

If you are, you are really fricked in the head or just a liar. In my not so humble opinion of course.

Wow. You have been here a long time, and I just realized your username means Roll Tide for the 1941 team.

That explains it all. I get it now. You are one of those gumps that will say water isn't wet and have zero integrity whatsoever in your compulsion to defend bama no matter how indefensible the position.

I bet you were one of the crazies denying that bama oversigned players several years ago as well.

Do Alabama fans sit around complaining about the wasted money on the Troy, South Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Jacksonville State football programs and athletic programs? Is this like a thing you guys do?

Yes...yes I do. As a matter of fact I mentioned Tulane in this thread also who is guilty of it. I mention USA all the time when it comes to this

At least I can respect that since it makes sense and is logical across the board. I just don't understand people solely complaining about UAB's subsidy when virtually every other school who isn't Alabama or Auburn in this state is worse off. You even have "power" teams nationally with large subsidies (hello Rutgers, hello some PAC teams)...which I don't even understand how that is possible.

Troy and USA are doing facility upgrades and their subsidies are both above 70%. South Alabama looking at building an OCS...lol, UAB didn't even get to look at it or consider it. They're trying to move out of Ladd-Peebles because it is 1. bad 2. was built in 1948. 3. off campus.

Legion Field was built in 1927.

...hell, UAB paid for Troy's new fieldhouse renovations since we had to pay to cancel the OOC game with them. Stupid.

UAB would benefit by cutting a lot of the administrative fat from it's athletic budget, but cutting the football team in the state of Alabama and losing one of the main things making you decent money (conference affiliation) just is not the answer. If UAB had lost conference affiliation their subsidy would have gone from 64% to 80-90% within 3 years.

I think more of these smaller schools should shut down their programs as well.

And doing this would allow, on the years the game is "away", a ton of AU or Bama fans to attend that normally would not go to an away game.

Do you even fricking know where Tuscaloosa is?

And it helps the state because all the tax dollars the fans will spend stays right here at home.

Yeah, instead of the state of Louisiana getting it when Bama travels to La-Monroe this year.

I don;t think it would cost them money. In fact, it would save them money. Both Auburn & Alabma already pay millions to teams every year to come and take a beating.

If you had done a little homework first and learned how much revenue Alabama and Auburn generate for each of those games, even after the payoff, perhaps you wouldn't have made such an idiotic comment.

That type of deal alone would save both Auburn & Alabama about 1.5 million dollars a year. I base that on the fact Alabama is paying MTS $1.5 million to come to Bryant-Denny this season.

Geez, you really are this stupid, aren't you? What about the lost $5 million just from lost ticket sales by having one less home game? Didn't even think about that, did you?

All I know is it seemed like Alabama had a 10-1 advantage over us in the crowd when I was a kid

That's because you were a kid. I was in the student section for four of those games. If Alabama had a 10-1 advantage, then either all the Auburn students gave up their tickets, or Legion Field seated about 300,000. The games in the seventies I attended, maybe Alabama had a 60-40 advantage, and that was likely because Auburn had some pretty shitty teams.

Or just move to FCS where A&M, etc are. No use in closing down programs that are already surviving on shoestring budgets.

This notion is just as stupid now as it was the first day it entered your brain. As I have pointed out to you every time you raise this stupid argument, Alabama A&M and Alabama State somehow manage to practically sell out Legion Field Field every year. It doesn't matter that the Magic City Classic is a long time traditional game. The bottom line is that a helluva lot more people would rather watch those teams than UAB, even though both schools are over 100 miles away.
